they cant stop you making it for own use but if they catch you sending it to others after they said to stop you still in trouble

There is a A1GP mod in progress for F1 Challenge. "We" asked for permission but didn't get it, apparently they want to release a game theirselves! THis is a rumour though... We also make it in private (private use only). But they've already stopped 3 groups....so you can make the conclusions yourself.

They have every right to ask for it. They probably won't because It wouldn't be in direct competition with their line of games.

Very simple solution here. Dont call it A1GP and change some bodywork. I dont think anyone is really going to care.

Also it wouldnt suprise me if the A1GP was having financial troubles. They dont advertise the races and they race at crappy circuits like eastern creek and lausitzring. Brands hatch was an awesome race with all the spectators there and everything but all other races seem dead.

if they have enough proof that this A1 Racing mod is in direct relation to their series then they can still w00p ur ass... it has to be like 60% or something (i dunno but something ridiculois) for it to be enough doubt that it is another mod, and if ur running a mod that is only 40% accurate wats the point?
thats like johnny herbets grand prix and the stupid names and cars in that, (even though it was a crap game) it doesnt get people into it

Doing things for personal use only is legal, covering it over the net or making money from it is not legal.

We are still making this mod and if we get an email telling us to stop then we'll stop, but would still make it for private use.

...you understanding of copyright laws is flawed. Its not legal for personal use no, ohterrwise downloading a movie, or MP3 or game for persnal use is legal also, and its not.
