Crash To Desktop with 95 beta Mod...
Date: February 13, 2006 12:31AM

Folks I am having some problems trying to get the 95 beta operational. I have talked to btone about it, but thought I would post here also in case anyone else testing the 95 beta has had similar problems and found a solution.

I am using the build 45 of CSM, and have been trying to get the 95 beta mod to load with no success.

It appears to swap out in CSM, and then I get to the loading screen and progress bar for the track I select in the mod. (Usually I select Imola, though I have tried to load other tracks too.) The bar progresses to the point where it should load and place me in cockpit, and then I get a CTD every time.

I've tried a number of things to correct it, but none work. I was hoping someone might be able to make a suggestion or two as how I can get the mod functional. FYI, here is the CSM error file from the 95 mod:

Tony, I had build 55 installed when I first tried the beta, it didn't work for me then either. Had to reinstall build 45 as 55 scrambled some of my other mods. SDI took a look at the log file and had no idea what is causing the crash.

Next step I guess will be to maybe uninstall my new printer and then reinstall to see if that effects it. If not I guess I'll have to wait on the official beta release...

are other mods working ok? what about gp2?

All the others are working ok. I haven't got the GP2 downloaded yet (I'm on dialup).

I'm sure it's not the mod alone causing the problem, maybe it's my system, maybe it's a missing file on my machine somewhere CSM needs. Every other mod of yours I have is working fine, as are the 86 and 99 mods.

The 91 and 94 mods I have never been able to get operational, hopefully when the CSM compatible 91 final is released that will take care of itself though.

Gonna try to straighten this out, as I'm not ready to give up on driving Berger's 95 Ferrari just yet!

well direct x 9 might cause problems, but i don't know much about it. and it wouldn't be just this mod.

i thin kyou've just discovered another smiley, unless you try uninstalling that nasty looking guy and see what happens :p

if you got rid of the printer without solving it, then perhaps a reinstall would work, but thats always a last resort

Uninstalled the 95 beta, did a clean up for it's registry entries, the re-installed the 95 beta. It is still crashing, and here is the CSM error file now:

Same as before, or is something obviously wrong here?

nothing i see. does it crash at the end of loading?
open the settings/csm.ini and delete the :
[Tracks]
Profile=something

part. maybe your tracks are messed up somehow. a long shot, but who knows :p

what about the printer?

Yeah Tony, it crashes after loading. Just when the progress bar finishes on the loading screen and before you drop into the cockpit I get the CTD. Never actually get to see any of the mod.

I tried deleting the tracks line in the csm.ini, but it had no effect. I don't think my tracks are messed up, as I have not really messed with them much other than installing China in place of Austria and using some of Ricardo Lampert's graphical updates.

I guess I will bite the bullet and go ahead and uninstall the printer and its software. But even if it is the printer I don't know what I'll do, as I need it on a fairly regular basis and none of the other mods I am running are having any problems.

I'm hoping there is not much wrong here that a new version of CSM won't cure or a new version of the 95 beta!
