Normally it is no problem. It should work fine even with different sector lenghts. The only thing you must avoid is to use the 'equalize sector lenght' feature.

@Martin . do you mean 'equalize sector centers'? Or have i missed something? Why avoid it?

@Tony:
Yes, I mean 'equalize sector centers' - I had forgotten the correct name of this feature.

If you modify sector positions (and orientation) by moving and rotating them manually I don't recommend to use this. It changes track width and some other values...the sectors aren't the same anymore and cc-line does not match either.
For some tracks it might be useful but I never use it because I modify all tracks manually by moving and rotating sectors.

I hope you did not apply this feature to the Nurburgring hairpin (turn 1) I build last year ;-) I took me a lot of time to modify it ;)

I'm not sure about nurburgring (its been in work so long :p) but I have a feeling it could have been totally rebuilt again (we'll find out soon :)). But i do know that I used the 'eq sect' feature as that alone fixed a nasty bug.
And in other tracks using that has fixed things - mainly wobbly cc cars in the pitlane.
I didn't use to use it but know I do on most tracks. I've learnt to build the dats a bit more flexibily so 'eq sect' can be used.

@Laurent:

Could you please fix following issue for future versions of GP4Builder?

The last sector of the kerb is not converted graphically. If kerb lenght is 10, only the first 9 kerb sections are visible...the last one is missing...always.

That's why I always create longer kerbs (of course one sector longer) than necessary to get the kerbs I want.

@lobo288 - Check you have the right dxt type in the tex file, and also check the LOD values. Maybe you should post a screenshot. Also Lo2k mentioned something a page or two ago about 'fixing part to object' although I'm not sure what that does.

Nixblicker - are you saying those unknown values refer to some angle of visibilty for objects?

@Ruboy: Yep and it's somehow "normal". That's the way all original tracks are built (you can check, all original .dat track files have kerbs 1 sector longer than .gp4 tracks). I don't know why so I kept this strange conversion for now.

Aha, never noticed that. Well, it's only a minor issue.
And yes, JipMapping realtime preview would be fantastic (depending on which .jip file is being defined).

@lobo288: your normals surely do not point toward exterior of the building (you can check by hitting F3 in Gp4builder and with preference to wire+backfaces, wrong side oriented faces will show texture).
If your normals are consistent, you can try to select the whole pit object and to invert normals for the whole object.
And if some faces are still transparent, either fix them manualy or use a two-faces material (not really recommended for opaque textures like here).

@32BOBO32 and Ruboy, Yep, it's in the to-do list. I "only" need to find a way to load the jip texture and to display them above track in GP4 Builder.

To all trackmakers, it my interests some of you.
I found on [www.automoto365.com] forum many links on the f1 video topic.
May be it may help some of that are looking for a specific view of a track.

Sounds nice :)
Would a 'search by flag' feature be possible so you can have a list of sectors that contain certain flags. I'd use it mainly for jipmapping as theres sometimes some there that shouldn't be and it can be hard to find manually.

@B-tone: yep, it won't be a search but I will list special flags in track flag list I think.

Amazing how track building has progressed! We are now asking for jipmapping display... Thanks Laurent, you're amazing.

Thanks Erix :)
It's interesting to note that jipmapping display is on the todo list more or less since the first version of 3DEditor (as multi-selection, mouse picking and more).
