@kingdeuce86 - when will the next race come?
The French Grand Prix will be run very soon. I've used this break not only to get the lower divisions up to speed, but to make some tweaks to the aesthetics of the Division 1 cars. Several of the drivers will be using new helmet designs that replicate helmets they wore during their Formula One career - including Lewis Hamilton, Ayrton Senna and Damon Hill.

There will also be two new liveries on the grid for the race at Magny-Cours, with Alain Prost and Jack Brabham using new cars that look better, and will hopefully bring them better luck in the championship.

Hopefully this will whet your appetite until the race in France ;)

SCHUMACHER DOMINATES MAGNY-COURS QUALIFYING

Michael Schumacher took his third pole in four races in a dominant qualifying display, with team mate Alberto Ascari 0.645 seconds behind, giving Ferrari their first front row lockout (and first by any team) of the season.

Schumacher's pole never looked under threat, with only four drivers able to post a time within a second of the seven-times World Champion German. He will now be looking to secure his first race win of the season - and make it four different winners in the opening four races of the Legend's Trophy.

However, with Ascari alongside him, and a second row pairing of Juan Manuel Fangio and Sebastien Vettel - who boast 9 Formula One World Championships between them - victory will not be easy for Schumacher, who will be hoping not to see a repeat of any of the dramas that cost him wins following his previous two pole positions in Belgium and Germany.

Lewis Hamilton - looking for a decent result to haul himself up into championship contention - will start fifth, with fellow Englishman Graham Hill sixth, and earning a reputation for consistency - only himself and Vettel have qualified in the top 10 in every race so far this season.

Alain Prost, driving his new Renault RE40, will seek to put his miserable start to the season behind him and use his 7th on the grid to grab his first Legend's Trophy points.

Championship leader Ayrton Senna endured a disappointing session, unable to replicate the pace that saw him take both pole and victory at Imola, and will start 10th.

Other disappointed drivers following the 45 minute session will include the two Williams drivers (12th & 13th), Fernando Alonso (17th), and Brabham, who start at the back of the grid.

*Incurs a 20-second penalty after the race for causing a major collision at the San Marino GP

Schumacher's three flying laps were all within one-tenth of a second of each other.

Damon Hill and Ayrton Senna - both sporting new hemlets - will have work to do to score points in the race.

Prost's new car could only get him up to 7th on the grid.

Fangio moved up to third with his last lap of the session - with the final times/standings on the left.
Do your best, Vettel!
Prost the Best!!!
SCHUMACHER WINS ACTION-PACKED FRENCH GRAND PRIX

Michael Schumacher won a thrilling French GP at Magny-Cours, with Juan Manuel Fangio finishing 2nd for Mercedes, and Alain Prost 3rd for Renault.

Schumacher's victory came at the expense of Lewis Hamiltion, after the triple World Champion retired with a gearbox failure from what could have been a race-winning position.

Red Bull's Sebastien Vettel came home 4th, ahead of Damon Hill 5th, and Alberto Ascari in the second Ferrari in 6th. Ascari inherited sixth from Graham Hill, who was demoted a position for causing an avoidable collision with Fernando Alonso in the dying laps, a collision that forced the Spaniard to pit for a new front wing, ending his chances of scoring any points.

Denny Hulme, and the two Benettons of Jody Scheckter and Nino Farina complete the top 10.

For Schumacher, the elation of victory will be mixed with relief that he has finally converted a pole position to a race win, and gratitude to Lady Luck, who dealt Hamilton a cruel blow. The McLaren driver had a superb start and was up from fifth on the grid to second place after the first three corners. His constant pressure and hounding of Schumacher for the lead of the race finally paid off on lap 12, albeit with a helping hand from Ascari, who outbraked himself going into turn 4, giving Hamilton the nudge he needed to get down the inside of Schumacher and take the lead.

However, on lap 17, just one lap after making his pit stop, Hamilton's gearbox failed, forcing his retirement. Schumacher, having retaken the lead due to a no-stop strategy, never looked back and went on to beat Fangio by just over 10 seconds.

The no-stop strategy proved to be the faster race, with the top three all opting to go the full race distance on the same fuel and set of tyres.

Hamilton's retirement signalled the end of McLaren's race, after championship leader Ayrton Senna had crashed with Emerson Fittipaldi on lap 5 - an incident which saw Fittipaldi receive a second 20-second penalty at the end of the race, on top of the one he earned for his part in the first corner accident at the previous race in San Marino.

An action-packed race saw six retirements in total - with Hakkinen (engine), Lauda, Stewart and Piquet (all accidents) joining the two McLaren drivers on the early plane home.

The win sees Schumacher climb to the top of the Driver's Championship standings for the first time this season, although there is still less than a race win separating the top six. Fangio's pace and Vettel's consistency see them as title contenders, with Ascari, Senna and Graham Hill all still within striking distance. Ferrari opened up a 40 point lead at the top of the constructor's championship thanks to McLaren's double retirement, with Mercedes, Lotus and Red Bull all scoring points and fighting for 2nd place.

But Schumacher wasn't the only delighted driver on the podium, as Alain Prost was finally able to celebrate his first points of the season. The Frenchman, driving his new Renault RE40 at his home Grand Prix, drove a consistent, drama-free race to turn his 7th on the grid into 15 points, and the belief that he can start building a championship challenge.

Meanwhile, at the bottom of the table, Brabham were once again unable to score any points, with Niki Lauda being involved in his fifth accident in four races, whilst Jack Brabham - who was up to 9th at one stage - couldn't overtake the drivers who opted not to pit, and finished 15th. Benetton picked up three points for 9th and 10th, but remain in the bottom two, and BRM suffered their third scoreless outing in four races, with Mike Hawthorn just missing out on a point in 11th. Prost's 3rd is enough to move Renault up to 8th.

All eyes now turn to Monaco, as the most famous track of them all prepares to host a Legend's Trophy Grand Prix for the first time.

The fast-starting Hamilton was up to second place by turn 4.

Brabham's difficult season continues - Lauda was one of several drivers to have off-track excursions during the race.

Ascari's mistake allowed Hamilton to bump his way into the lead...

...but it didn't last for long.

There were good battles throughout the race up and down the field.

Schumacher turned pole into victory at the third time of asking, with Ascari finishing a lap behind in 7th.
Keep it up in the next race Vettel. You'll have a goot spot.
Damn Alonso why y so slow :(

He was battling for 5th before Hill collided with him. He had a good race considering he started 17th, but was unlucky to be involved in the late incident that wasn't his fault.
Aghh, really unlucky for Lewis, but I'm upbeat for him to do it next round.
This is still brilliant. :-)

SCHUMACHER TAKES ANOTHER POLE AT MONACO

Michael Schumacher continued his domination of the qualifying sessions this season with a brilliant pole position lap that was almost a second quicker than Juan Manuel Fangio's Mercedes.

It is the German's fourth pole in the opening five races, with his only blip coming at the rain-affected San Marino GP, and he will be aiming to become the first driver to win his second Legend's Trophy Grand Prix this season.

Lewis Hamilton and Sebastien Vettel, however, will hope to make it five different winners in the opening five races, as they line up on the second row of the grid, with Alain Prost and Damon Hill - also without a win - on row three.

Ayrton Senna, who drove that famous pole position lap round the streets of Monte-Carlo in 1988, could only manage seventh this time around, with Graham Hill keeping his record of qualifying in the top 10 in every race alive with eighth.

Alberto Ascari was off the pace of his Ferrari team mate down in ninth, but in truth nobody could match the pace of Schumacher, who once again took pole by a significant margin.

Nino Farina scored Benetton's highest grid position of the season with tenth, but he is one of three drivers who will incur time penalties at the end of the race for impeding another driver's qualifying lap. Farina himself will have 40 seconds added to his race time for two separate incidents - one of which was on his team mate - whilst Nelson Piquet (12th) and Jackie Stewart (22nd) will have 20 seconds added on.

Qualifying Table: How the drivers have fared so far this season in qualifying, with one point for pole, two for second etc. down to 22 for last in each race

Sebastian VETTEL (Red Bull) 17
Michael SCHUMACHER (Ferrari) 17
Graham HILL (Lotus) 33
Ayrton SENNA (McLaren) 33
Alberto ASCARI (Ferrari) 34
Lewis HAMILTON (McLaren) 36

Jody SCHECKTER (Benetton) 86
Mika HAKKINEN (Mercedes) 94
Niki LAUDA (Brabham) 94
Mike HAWTHORN (BRM) 94

All eyes will now be on the start of the first ever Legend's Trophy GP at Monaco - the last of the opening European races before the season moves to Brazil - and whether Schumacher can keep his lead and live up to his billing as the favourite to win the race and increase his lead at the top of the Driver's Championship.

22 Jackie STEWART (BRM)

Lewis Hamilton will be looking to put the disappointment of his Magny-Cours retirement behind him.

Raikkonen was off the pace all session and starts 19th.

Jackie Stewart was twice hampered by traffic, then drove a poor lap to qualify last. Final times shown on the left.
Still no Vettel on the Top 3?
still no Alonso in top 1?

HAMILTON WINS ACCIDENT-STREWN MONACO GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton has won an action-packed Legend's Trophy Monaco Grand Prix that featured a number of accidents, most notably a huge crash in the tunnel involving – and instigated by – Michael Schumacher.

The victory for Hamilton makes it five different winners in the opening five races of the season, with the top three drivers separated by just five points, and the top eight all within a race win of each other.

Damon Hill was one of only three drivers who went for a no-stop strategy, and the Briton made it work well, taking full advantage of all the incidents going on around him to finish second, less than a second ahead of Sebastian Vettel in third, and Graham Hill fourth.

Fernando Alonso also went the entire race without stopping and finished fifth, with the under-pressure Emerson Fittipaldi producing a much needed strong result in sixth, holding off Jim Clark and Alain Prost in the last few laps.

Mike Hawthorn and Kimi Raikkonen completed the top 10.

It was a race that saw high drama from the first lap to the last, a classic Grand Prix worthy of the fame and history of the drivers, teams, and the circuit itself.

It was Schumacher who started on pole – his fourth in five races – the German looking for his second win of the season, but despite getting off the line quicker than Fangio who started alongside him on the front row, it was the Argentine who braked later into Sainte Devote, and was able to go side-by-side with the Ferrari all the way up the hill towards Massenet. Fangio had the inside line for the long left-hander, but Schumacher knew the importance of keeping his lead on the first lap, and how difficult it is to overtake on the tight and twisty Monte-Carlo circuit, and drove his Ferrari all the way round the outside to give himself the inside line for Casino, and ensure the race lead.

It was a brilliant display of tenacity and driving skill that showed just why the German is, statistically, the most successful driver in the history of the sport, and the favourite to win the first Legend's Trophy Driver's Championship.

However, on lap 3, having established a five second lead, Schumacher's season was epitomised when he ran wide coming out of Portier and crashed into the wall.

It was an incident that brought back memories of Senna's famous crash in the same place in 1988, and with no safety car, the situation quickly snowballed. Vettel, running fourth, hit Schumacher's ailing tyre, breaking his front wing and forcing the Red Bull into the pits for an unscheduled stop that demoted him to the back of the field. Nelson Piquet had to swerve to avoid Schumacher's car, which had crawled into the tunnel, and in turn hit the armco, before Jackie Stewart careered into the back of the Williams. Nino Farina was less successful in avoiding the Ferrari, driving straight into the back of him to make it four retirements in total for the one crash.

Coincidentally, the three drivers due to receive time penalties for impeding in qualifying (Farina, Stewart & Piquet) all retired as a result of the same incident, which meant this was the first race of the season where no such penalties were applied after the race.

The crash handed the lead to Fangio, who was five seconds ahead of Hamilton, with Damon Hill in third place and holding up everyone behind him as he tried to make his no-stop strategy work.

But the McLaren driver was in no mood to settle for second place, and, on one of his favourite circuits, set about closing the gap to Fangio and hustling him for the lead of the race. Fangio was the first to make his scheduled pit stop, on lap 18 of a 39 lap race that most drivers were expected to go the full distance without stopping on the most difficult track on the calendar to overtake on. That proved not to be the case however, with Hamilton leading a train of cars into the pits on the following lap. The Brit drove a stunning in lap and, with the help of a quick stop from the McLaren pit crew, rejoined the race ahead of Fangio and in the lead.

It was a lead that the triple World-Champion would not relinquish for the remainder of the race, although there was still plenty of action going on behind him. Senna (suspension), Scheckter (accident) and Brabham (accident) joined the DNF list that also included Ascari, who had driven into the wall on the opening lap of the race, ensuring Ferrari would score no points for the first time this season.

In the closing laps the main focus was on Fittipaldi's battle for 7th with Jim Clark and Alain Prost right behind him, and Damon Hill, who was trying to hold onto a well deserved podium finish ahead of the recovering Vettel, who had filled his Red Bull with fuel during his unscheduled stop on lap 3 and had made his way back up to 4th place.

None of the battles resulted in any overtaking moves, but there was still time for some late drama as 2nd placed Fangio became the ninth retirement of the race – the eighth due to an accident – when he crashed his Mercedes into the wall at the swimming pool chicane with only five laps to go. The Argentine threw away 18 points which would have given him the championship lead, and promoted Damon Hill up to second, with the ever-consistent Vettel finishing third.

Incredibly, despite his retirement, Schumacher still leads the Driver's Championship, but the top of the table is now tighter than ever with Vettel just one point behind him (despite not winning a race), and Fangio only five back. Victory for Hamilton moves him up to fifth in the standings with 44 points, 14 behind Schumacher and in genuine title contention for the first time this season.

At the bottom of the table, Fittipaldi's 8 points for sixth move him out of the relegation battle for the time being, with Hawthorn picking up 2 vital points for his ninth placed finish, but the BRM driver remains in the bottom five. There are still no points for either Brabham driver, with Niki Lauda failing to take advantage of the high attrition race, as he finished in 11th place.

In the Constructor's Championship, Ferrari's lead has been cut from 40 to just 15 after their double-retirement and Hamilton's win, whilst Red Bull, Lotus, Mercedes and Williams all battle for the mid-field places and the chance of challenging Ferrari and McLaren at the top.

Fangio stuck his car around the outside of the first corner...

...but Schumacher drove his Ferrari all the way round the outside of turn three to keep his race lead intact on the opening lap...

...until his accident caused carnage in the tunnel.

Prost endured a frustrating race, stuck behind Damon Hill in the first half, then a slow pit stop saw him behind Fittipaldi and Clark in the second half of the race.

Hamilton's ability to get out of the pit lane ahead of Fangio was a crucial factor in his race win.

Senna's title chances took a blow when he lost a potential podium finish with a suspension failure.

Fangio would have taken the lead of the championship had he not crashed in the dying laps.

Damon Hill soaked up the pressure from the cars behind him to make his no-stop strategy work and finish a superb second place.

Hamilton becomes the fifth different winner in the opening five races of the season.
Good race!!!!! Great accident on start
wee, Alonso is starting to string up some good results!!

Rumour has it he's starting to grow frustrated at his Renault's lack of pace.
