Once again great job by Kimi, we're delighted about his performance. Robert made a silly mistake early in the race, but nevertheless he showed some good overtaking and fought back into the points.

Toyota

A race to forget for us at Toyota,Ralf race was ruined by his spin then the oil leak put paid to a dismal race for him,Cristiano had another shocker,He has no pace at the moment and we will be looking at it closely in the coming races for improvement or Jarno will be stepping in to the race seat..On to Spain where we feel confident at a track that we won last year,of a stronger race performance and hopefully some points...

Great coverage again m8!!
Silly Season Hath Commenced!

Drivers open for contract offers until the end of round 7

Engines available; first bids will be accounted for at the end of round 7

Of course, the higher bid will be preferred by both drivers and engine companies, so make your choices wisely. Don't forget, you are able to terminate your drivers' contracts following the procedure on page 13.

Bids to be sent to this F1_Manager account. Budgets are on page 1.
Just to make sure, if I bid 18m for a Mercedes engine, and 3 other teams bid e.g. 19m, I won't get one, right? Or does the "McLaren 1st choice" preference increase the outbid value?

Yeah, the latter one...it just means you're free to bid for other engines, but if you want a Merc engine then you've got one.

Thanks for the clarification

Decent result from both drivers although we will give Button a reminder that although bumping other drivers off the track can be an effective overtaking tactic, it's still dangerous.

Activity Check for Round 5 - European GP

The activity window for the European GP, June 13th - June 25th, has now closed.

I can confirm one manager failed to post within this time frame.

Mogotron - BMW Sauber - Last Post - June 11th 2013 - 1st Warning

As this is Mogotron's first warning, BMW Sauber will be deducted 10 Constructors Championship points.

Just as a reminder, a second warning will uncur a 15 point deduction and a £5m fine and third warning will result in expulsion from the series.

That is all!
Umm, was it mentioned

that if someone gets expelled from the series,

the new manager should get back the points lost?

If a manager is fired for inactivity, then all of the points deducted and fines implemented will be rescinded once a new manager takes his place.

McLaren Still on top in Barcelona

Seeing as McLaren have won the last four races you probably wouldn't be blamed for wanting to see a change in the status quo this weekend in Barcelona. However, the early indication is that you may well be disappointed as Ryan Briscoe and Kimi Raikkonen once again lead the way in free practice by a relatively comfortable margin. Further back however, there were signs that the balance in the midfield is beginning to tip slightly with Gary Paffett up in 4th in his Super Aguri with his team mate, Glock, in 8th. Off the back of his podium at the Nurburgring, Davidson might be slightly disappointed to finish the session 10th as might Fernando Alonso, who currently sits 3rd in the drivers championship, who could only manage 14th. Right at the back however Michael Schumacher will certainly be very disappointed with his 20th place, as will Cristiano Da Matta in 21st whilst Satoshi Motoyama rounded off the field.

Toro Rosso
Some good setup work by the reserve drivers here. Lets hope the race drivers can use this to get a decent grid position.
Negotiations are well under way for next season, with an exciting 2007 in prospect if we can pull off the deals we're working on.

Are tyres being negotiated later in the season? Is there a cost implication for these?

Usually teams just state which tyre manufacturer they'll be using next season and then tyres are provided free of charge.

However, considering 2006 was Michelin's final season in F1 the choice is much easier for next season ;-)

Midland

Remember when I said Motoyama might get a drive later this season?

Haha, that was a good one.
Ferrari

A strong Felipe today, Giancarlo was working on the setup for Jos, still a big way behind the McLaren's though, really shocked by the championship standings

2006 Spanish GP Qualifying

Q1

As the cars took to the track for the first part of the qualifying hour there were very few who were surprised by the first six drivers to drop out of the session. By far the most surprising of the lot however was the loss of Juan Pablo Montoya who posted the 5th fastest time in free practice yesterday, whilst loss of Andre Lotterer also raised a few eyebrows. The six drivers who dropped out of Q1 were Frentzen in 22nd, Da Matta in 21st, Vettel in 20th, Montoya in 19th, Ralf Schumacher in 18th and Lotterer in 17th.

Q2

Q2 again passed with relatively few surprises with the most important event of the session befalling Hekki Kovalainen who, shortly after posting the 6th fastest time, suffered a water leak so whilst he qualified for Q3, he was unable to take part. Overall, in Q2 we lossed Villeneuve in 16th, Webber in 15th, Leinders in 14th, Michael Schumacher in 13th, Verstappen in 12th and Davidson in 11th. This left both Heidfeld, Montagny, Button, Alonso, Kovalainen, Glock, Raikkonen, Kubica, Massa, Coulthard in the hunt for pole position

Q3

With Kovalainen unable to take part in Q3 the 9 remaining drivers all took the the track for the final ten minutes of the qualifying hour to fight it out for pole position. As has been for the past few races, it was the McLaren's who stole the show with Robert Kubica just pipping his team mate to pole position. Meanwhile Timo Glock put in a superb lap to take 3rd in his Super Aguri as did Coulthard who put his BMW into 4th, meanwhile the Toro Rossos rounded off the nine runners in 8th and 9th respectively.

McLaren Mercedes

Fantastic performance by our drivers in both FP and Quali.
