F1 Manager

This series (originally established by Chris 2k6) gives 11 lucky players the chance to guide a Formula One team to success, whether it be Ferrari or Minardi. The game started in the 2003 season and has already developed greatly thanks to the choices each manager has made. Also real life events will come in to play, such as Red Bull wanting to take over Jaguar etc but, that doesn’t guarantee you success. Managers will also have to negotiate contracts with drivers and engine suppliers along with making many other decisions along the way.

B) Qualifying

- Qualifying is run using the current F1 knockout system.

- In Q1 all 22 cars compete with the slowest 6 drivers are elminated from the session.

- In Q2 the remaining 16 cars compete with the slowest 6 drivers dropping out of the session.

- In Q3 the final 10 cars compete for pole position.

C) Race

- Races are run at 100% race distance with points being awarded to the top 8 finishers as below:

1st / 10pts
2nd / 8pts
3rd / 6pts
4th / 5pts
5th / 4pts
6th / 3pts
7th / 2pts
8th / 1pt

2) Perfs

A) Team Perfs

- Each team performance is calculated based on their position in the previous year's Constructor's Championship, as well as which engine and brake manufacturer they use and their pre-season testing plans.

- Team are awarded the following base BHP values according to their final positions:

1st / 590
2nd / 585
3rd / 585
4th / 580
5th / 580
6th / 580
7th / 575
8th / 575
9th / 575
10th / 570
11th / 570

B) Driver Perfs

- Additional perf points are also awarded for victories, podiums, fastest laps and pole positions and for winning the Driver's Championship.

- Drivers also receive perf boosts for starting races and taking part in Free Practice and Testing Sessions.

- Perf points are deducted if a driver fails to finish a race and also if they continue competing in the series passed their IRL retirement from all forms of single seater racing.

C) Test Sessions

- Every team has the opportunity to take part in Pre-Season and Mid-Season test sessions that occur throughout the season.

- Teams can take part in Pre-Season testing free of charge, but are limited to attending a maximum of two sessions.

- Teams can attend as many mid-season test sessions as they wish, but must also pay a fee of £750k for each session they do attend.

- At a test session, each team has the option of focusing on improving pace, which increasing their BHP value and also slightly increasing their failure rate, or on reliability which does the opposite.

- Team Managers can choose any of their contracted drivers to take part in a test session. Unless otherwise stated, each team will attend the session using their Free Practice driver lineup.

3) Managers and Managing

- Originally all managers were randomly assigned to their teams.

- If space becomes available in the series the space is offered to the first person on the waiting list.

- Anyone current managing in the series may also apply for any vacant seats. In this case the person who is offered the position is chosen at random.

4) Actvity Checks

- Activity checks are carried out on a race by race basis in order to encourage managers to engage with the series.

- All Managers will be required to post at least once between the day that the free practice results are published and two days after the race is published.

- If a manager fails to post within the activity window, they will incur the following penalties:

1st Warning - 10 Point WCC Deduction
2nd Warning - 15 Points WCC Deduction and £5m fine
3rd Warning - Expulsion from the series

- Warnings can be avoided by informing us beforehand that you are going to be inactive.

- If a manager is removed from the series all penalties applied to their team will be rescinded once a new manager is appointed.

- Any posts which are regarded as spam or clearly have only been posted in order to circumvent the activity penalties will not be counted in the activity check.

2007 Team Budgets
These are your budgets that you have to spend on your team for the next season.

2006 Team Testing Budgets

Your teams testing budget is the remainder of your previous years budget after having bought all of you drivers, engine and brakes. This can be spent on mid season test sessions that occur during the season. Just as in pre-season testing you can choose to focus on improve pace of reliability. NOTE - From 2007, teams will pay for mid-season testing directly from their main budgets, with whatever is leftover in the testing budgets below being added to next seasons budgets.

Engine/Brake Manufacturers
Each team must sign an engine and brake supplier. Ferrari, Renault, Toyota, Honda and McLaren all have the option to stick with their traditional engine providers, however all other teams must bid for their desired engine. There are no limitations to the number of teams each brake manufacturer can supply.

Each engine and brake type has a reliabilty and a BHP setting which is chosen at random from within a specific range with the more expensive engines and brakes providing a much higher chance of providing more power and better reliabilty.

Drivers Market

Drivers will be ready at random times throughout the season for contract negotiations whereas everything else (engines, brakes, etc) can be signed at anytime. Drivers have a set minimum contract offer so anything offered below this figure will be rejected. The driver will accept the highest offer unless his current team are within £500k of the highest bid for the driver in which case the driver will stay with his current team.

Drivers can bring experience to your team, while youngsters are up and coming stars. Race them too early and they may struggle whilst choosing someone who is nearing retirement may result in the same effect.

Each team must have at least three drivers (2 race drivers, 1 test/third driver), but can also sign a second test driver if they so wish.

When making an offer, send a pm to the F1_Manager account with your offer and for which driver you wish to sign.

A driver will have a set time to receive offers, usually a week, 2 races etc, after which they will decide who they will race for next season. If they have no offer then they will remain available for contract talks.

Drivers available to sign at the end of Round 14

As far as I'm aware the plans to re-revive the series have also died, so at the present time the GP2 series isn't starting up again.

Midland is all good to go.
Yep Super Aguri all good :)
Quick update (and also a cheeky bump ;-))

All the cars are now in the mod, all that remains is to add the helmets which I can do as soon as I receive them.

Once they're it'll be time to start thinking of running the Pre-Season Tests which begs the question, who is running the pre-season tests?

as for the bump. Someone should change the sticky-situation ^^
following closely, fun to read those coverages.
Great work and some great series you guys got.
I can possibly do the pre-season testing.
