Lovely graphics Connor. Nice to see that you also have used the revcounter and boost gauge. (Y)

Qualifying could be better for Team Japan.

Video coverage is ok for me.

Very disappointing qualy run at our 'home' race, hoping for much better in the race.

Coverage was excellent, congrats!
Woo-hoo! First pole position for our team! Let's hope we materialize this into a wonderful first victory! Well done, Nikola!

Quality unfortunately isn't quite as good as before as my PC was having a bit of an off day but hopefully it's still up to scratch!

As long as the coverage can be uploaded, I'm not too bothered if the quality will not be as good.

Seeing that there have been a few changes to the mod, can someone send me a copy of the updated mod once the race has been uploaded?

Is the coverage ready?
tumbleweeds spotted rolling down Aughtie Drive at Albert Park..... locals like me will know where that is - and that is not a great sign! LOL!

Sorry sorry the coverage would have been out last week but my roof has starting leaking in my bedroom, add to that work and i've literally not had much time to get it sorted!

That's not good to hear. Hope you can fix the leak. Do try and get the coverage up when the time permits.

Round 12 - Melbourne/Fiji - Race!

Hello and welcome to the second half of Round 12 of the GPGNC. After seeing a fantastic session yesterday in which Nikolov of Bulgaria took pole position, we are ready to see if the team can convert that pole position into a race win. Once again the sun has brought the crowd out in their thousands for this event, and with the cars lined up on the grid we are just about ready to get underway.

As previously mentioned its Bulgaria in pole position, joined at the front by Italy. Between them and Brazil sit 19 other cars ready to fight for that win. The lights are coming on now...

And we are a go! Bulgaria getting a fantastic start and storming off the grid to keep their first position! Everyone getting away cleanly as China and Germany duke it out.

But Nikolov has slowed himself down far too much at turn 1 and has now slipped down the order! A fantastic start goes to pot as the Bulgarian slides in behind USA into 4th place...

It seems several cars suffered from squeezing on the inside line, San Marino one of those dropping back from 3rd place to 7th at the start.

France profiting however, as Girard drives himself all the way from 10th on the grid into a net 6th. Great start by the Frenchman!

Spain however couldn't even get to the first corner before being swamped, losing 4 positions immediately as cars shot past Alvarez. The penalty definitely not helping.

Australia looking to profit from a slow German start at McGregor pulls himself alongside Kederer into turn 3, only to squeeze the german wide. Right behind Ireland pulling the exact same move on Paddock, leaving the Brit high and dry.

A queue forms as the slow cars try and pull themselves back to speed, Germany falling all the way back to 13th whilst Great Britain Paddock finds himself back down in 16th.

Knock on effect sees Spain, Canada, Finland and Brazil form pairs before finally sorting themselves out into that order.

First lap standings and a fastest lap by leader Tafuro in the Italian car. De Boer managed to pick his way through the trouble and gained a fantastic 5 places at the start.

Monaco not looking to rest behind the slower Australian car and immediately pulls alongside the green machine. It's Turn 3 and its job done for Grimaldi to take 10th.

Spain's start goes from bad to worse and Copeman clumsily locks up into turn 9 and shoves Alvarez off the round. The Spaniard makes his way through the gravel trap and joins a dead 22nd.

Lap 3 and another fastest lap for the leader. Both him and Argentina beginning to pull out a gap over the cars behind them.

Bulgaria looking to regain some of those lost places at the start, and its a little progress as he moves past Austin in the US car for 3rd place. Good move.

Another man looking to regain some pride after the first lap is Paddock and he does so with a lunge up the inside of Portugal. The place is his, that's 15th.

With a little space in front of him Nikolov finally has the chance to show how fast his car really is as he sets fastest lap in pursuit of Argentina.

Not the most elegant of drives from Copeman as he locks up pretty much everything possible to allow Finland up the inside into T9 for 19th.

Moving on to lap 6 and there doesn't look like much hope of Silvestre taking his qualifying 3rd home. He loses another place into the first corner to Mexico.

The top 3 in one shot. Tafuro has pulled out a fair cushion over Argentina of about 2 seconds, whilst the Argentine watches the Bulgarian car in his mirrors grow ever larger.

Lap 7 of the race see's our first retirement of the day! It's De Boer of Netherlands the victim as he pulls off with a water leak.

And like buses they come all at once! Just two corners later the Canadian car also pulls off, Copeman suffering a puncture. Seems to be contagious out there...

Kederer on a march through the slower cars around him as he breezes his way past Ireland to take 12th place and edge closer to the points.

Another driver snatches his brakes and this time its Girard. That's a trip through the graveltrap allowing Cremasco an easy ticket through, whilst Silvestre gets blockaded as the French car re-enters the circuit.

And with lap 9 comes the pit stops! The cameraman failed to notice the graphics on screen not working, so your standings as Germany enters the pits look like this:
1) ITA 2) ARG 3) BUL 4) USA 5) JAP 6) MEX 7) FRA 8) SMR 9) CHI 10) MCO 11) AUS 12) GER 13) IRE 14) GB 15) POR 16) FIJ 17) MNE 18) FIN 19) BRA 20) SPA Ret) NED, CAN

We have liftoff! An overzealous Cheng shoots past San Marino and clips the back of the French car. Somehow the Chinese car remains in tact and perhaps a little unfairly keeps the position ahead of France. 2 places in a very strange move for China, whilst Girard manages to keep it together enough to stay in front of Silvestre.

That's one way to throw away a 5th place! With little to no pressure on him Kamikaze still manages to lock up at Turn 13 and has to wait for every non-pitted car to pass before rejoining.

The pressure from Bulgaria has definitely payed off, as the Argentine car slips up coming into turn 3 and lets Nikolov through. Good opportune driving from the Bulgarian as he moves up to 2nd.

As both Italy and Bulgaria pit to leave the lead to Argentina, Mexico sets a new fastest lap to remind the top 4 they aren't as safe as it seems!

That was close! It could have ended up so differently but some quick thinking from McGregor avoids a collision with the current leader coming out the pits.

It seems that pit exit is causing drivers to take turn 1 far too slowly as Finland has to basically stop to allow Bulgaria to exit. The finn has a much better drive off the turn though and manages to take the position into turn 3. Could that ruin Bulgaria's outlap and strategy?

Cars are all over the place with pitstops but that doesn't stop Germany from overtaking. This time Kederer finds his way past Monaco.

Hold up for Mexico in the pits! Disaster for Cremasco as he has to wait for San Marino to enter his pitbox before leaving, how badly will that affect the Mexican?

USA comes out the pits and slots themselves right in between Finland and Bulgaria! Austin manages to slip past Edvardsen straight away but unfortunately for the american Nikolov finds his way past at the same time. But Bulgaria are now back behind USA, will that prove to be a net 2nd/3rd or 3rd/4th?

Everyone is pushing as hard as possible out there and that is proven once again as France and Australia get very close. Unfortunately for McGregor being pushed onto such a wide line only allows San Marino to squeeze in between him and France.

Argentina exiting the pits and it seems that he is back out ahead of USA, meaning it currently stands at 1) ITA, 2) ARG, 3) USA, 4) BUL. Bulgaria a big loser in that phase.

Kederer really is on a mission and its a pass in his favourite place. This time the man he moves past is McGregor of Australia for 9th.

The standings after the first round of pitstops. Bulgaria find themselves back in 4th again, whilst a stunning leap for Montenegro see's that team on the brink of points, moving from 17th to 11th. Monaco losing a fair bit of ground to slip outside of the points to 13th.

2 Laps later and more contact. This time its Ireland and Finland coming together as Taytoh tries to find a way past. Instead Finland explores the outfield and comes back down in last.

Slight respite for the Finn mere moments later as he loses that last place to Fiji. Cauncaunibuca taking a trip to visit the fans a little bit earlier than appropriate.

Ordinary overtakes seem a little bit hard to come by at the moment as pushing becomes the norm. This time Japan encourages the Spain car onto the outfield to take 17th and drop Alvarez down to last.

Edvardsen is into the pits outside of the standard window which can only mean he has a problem. Seems an issue with the brakes which has caused him to duck in. The team send him back out but didn't fill the car at all meaning the Finn will have to come back in for fuel... A mistake perhaps?

Germany providing a source of proper driving out there as once again Kederer gets the move done without any contact whatsoever. San Marino loses 8th to the German.

Quick check of the standings before we head in for our second round of pitstops.

Something Cheng decides the next lap he isn't interested in. The Chinese car retires towards the end of the lap with Transmission problems to make the 3rd DNF of the day.

More pit exit action as France comes across Austin leaving the pits at turn 1. The speed differential makes the American easy meat into T3.

It's turned into an impressive stint for Montenegro as the Chinese retirement sees him into 10th. Not enough for Vukcevic however as he gets a proper move done at Turn 9 for 9th.

Tense moments in the cockpit of that San Marinese car as Alvarez locks up big time but manages to get the car turned in without any pieces missing.

Once again an issue with the pit exit and that will definitely have to be looked at for next season. Portugal getting a close view of the back of the Irish car.

Perhaps a bit too friendly with the back of the car for the Irish! Moments later and Portugal pushes the Irish car out the way to take the position and set Taytoh back in front of Edvardsen.

It seems its been too much clean overtaking for the German car and now he gets dirty! Kederer pushes an unknowing Montenegro straight off the track, whilst right behind Australia suffers exactly the same fate at the hands of San Marino. Monaco sneaks through to make it 7) SMR, 8) MCO, 9) GER

Perhaps in the heat of the moment Vukcevic completely ignores the Australian car and somehow manages to drive straight over the front wheel of McGregor! Both cars are ok and they join back in 11th and 12th respectively.

Argentina comes out the pits after their stop and it seems that they are now ahead of Italy! That's a fantastic stint from Domenech!

But his speed out the pits just isn't enough and the Argentine cannot defend the position on cold tyres. A momentary lead taken away in turn 3 by Tafuro.

Very cruel for Mexico but its an engine blowout for Cremasco! That car had found itself up to 4th place, very unfortunate that the race had to end like that! Bizarrely the Mexican decides to drive two more laps without entering the pits before eventually pulling off, must be some major communication issues within the team.

So with that retirement we have the standings after all pitstops have been completed. Both Great Britain and Brazil profiting for the incidents ahead and having brilliant pitstops to move from 12th to 6th and 16th to 10th respectively.

Not much action on the track in terms of overtaking but the fifth retirement of the day comes about to cap a rather unfortunate afternoon for Japan. Straight on at turn 1 with transmission issues for Kamikaze.

4 laps remaining and the fight for 2nd place tightens up massively as Domenech cannot seem to find an easy way past Edvardsen. Is this Nikolovs chance...

Kederer with something to say about the lack of action in the last stint as he one again makes a move into turn 1. Grimaldi seems to be rather surprised by the attack and does well to keep his car pointing the right way.

Nikolov has a lunge up the inside, is this it?! It is... but its a very untidy overtake from the Bulgarian and I imagine Argentina are not happy right now. Domenech forced of the road at turn 9 and with the Finland car back between the two any chance of a counter attack seems to have gone...

An uneventful ending section of the race, but perhaps exactly how Tafuro would have wanted it. The Italian rounds the last corner and he has won the Fijian Grand Prix! An absolutely dominant performance right from the first lap!

2nd place and with a point to prove Nikolov as he uses his new found position to set fastest lap and take that bonus point right at the end.

3rd and final podium position for Argentina. I can't imagine Domenech is totally happy after that incident, but 3rd is a fantastic result for that team. 4th just behind came in Austin for USA.

5th place and a very solid haul of points for Girard, good drive for France. 6th and an immensely impressive gain of 8 places for Great Britain.

A few more laps and you feel it would have been the reverse order, but 7th goes to San Marino and 8th to Germany. Attack driving from Kederer, great performance.

9th went to Monaco in a very quiet day. 10th place provided a massive surprise, despite starting in 22nd and last, with a gain of 12 positions... Brazil! Despite Vilela having a particularly unimpressive race up until the final stint, i can imagine the Brazil team will be chuffed with that result.

So congratulations to Paulo Tafuro of Italy! A dominant performance, the couple of overtakes done at the right time and cleanly, with all the pace most definitely there. Brilliant performances by Brazil and Great Britain as well as a great show by Germany. Questions will definitely be asked about the pit lane and the general level of grip on the track after this round, so we may well see changes if this track was to come back, but otherwise a fantastic show!

We hope you have enjoyed the coverage, apologies for the picture only format. I figured the smaller waiting time would appeal more!
