smedley goes massa shifted up 3 gears at once????? how does a top line f1 driver make such a mistake. we all know what happened. i perosnally dont have a problem with it as long as alonso was faster, which he was. he was quicker than massa in in his dirty air.

i think massa will get a talking to for making it obvious. he should have tried to retake alonso into the corner

it's fun that they even try to explain that Massa would ever do that kind of mistake and when leading hah.

yes he maybe was faster 0,1 seconds per lap at that time but it is not enough to overtake, so he would have never ever done the move with that speed difference.

overall on laptime alonso was quicker when both were in free air. it does leave a sour taste in the mouth but ....

what was the penalty for austria 2002? I cant remember?

There wasn't any. They were fined for breach of podium protocol when Schumi pushed Barrichello onto the top step IIRC.

Rules have been made since Austria to stop this.

In 2002 team orders weren't banned. It was banned just after that event. It was so ridiciluous that MS-Ferrari package have'nt got any real opposition in the grid and still they gave team order. And then team orders were banned.

I would need to see a lap chart to confirm this, but I think it was generally a very small margin, and not enough to change positions in regular circumstances.

oh btw this does make smedley's comment about Massa missing 3 gears at once pointless:

Alonso: "What was wrong with Felipe, did he miss 2nd gear"
Stella: "No, he is fine"

Austria 2002 team orders were not against rules now they are.

And if Massa has had switched 3 gears at once, then why wasn't Massa the one who said "Sorry".

there's really no point debating any hat-talking from ferrari.

i dont know what i have to say about this cause i thaught 2nd is good for alo but why is ferrari making such a dumb thing. 1-2 would have been great there back but now they will get a damn penalty for this @#$%&. BTW Michael said when ask by german reporters that he think it wasnt a bad thing. he said that in this time the guys who has more points is the driver the team goes for so michael thinks they did nothing wrong. wich i found funny that he said this

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"And thats the bottom line cause Alonso0506 said so"

i think ferrari will be introuble perhaps

The basic gist of the legislation meant it was acceptable for a team to favour one driver and demand the other to play a support role, but it was not acceptable for a team to interfere with a race unnecessarily.” Not exactly explicit.

Ferrari will be in trouble if and when other teams do complain about this and they will.

A hollow victory for Alonso:

bloody hell wikipedia are quick:

However a few years later at the 2005 United States Grand Prix, Schumacher was being challenged for the lead by Barrichello but the two were ordered to preserve their cars to the end of the race and settle into a steady pace. This effectively meant that Barrichello wasn't able to challenge Schumacher and assured Schumacher's and Ferrari's only victory of the season. But whether this was favouritism towards Schumacher or just a cautious approach to an easy victory is debatable.

Despite the regulations, in the 2010 German Grand Prix, Ferrari team mates Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso were subjected to team orders, as Massa's engineer Rob Smedley said 'Ok Felipe, Alonso is faster than you', and when Alonso had passed Massa 'Well done. Sorry'.

that last word sorry will be ferraris undoing. what was he sorry for?

The move itself is no worse than Massa/Raikkonen in Brazil 2007 and China 2008, so it shouldn't be penalised if there is consistency.

The ethics is much worse, as the championship situation is much different. It reeks of Ferrari being a team resorting to desperate measures.

well 2007 brazil wasn't made as obivious as today or the one at china 2008 and this time there was an clear message from the team to a driver. Today there was no need for this as Felipe still had/has a mathematical chance for the title, he would have been like 1 win away from alonso so not far at all.
