i lold at Horner's comments on Whitmarsh's allegation:

"There are funny things happening at McLaren - Lewis managing Mark, Ron reckoning we have a fuel problem and now Martin reckons we have a ride-height control."

I Knew of this problem weeks ago, my mate told the people at VR that the tank was too small on 3 occasions, but was ignored.

LS's Tip of the week
ESSENTIAL OILS aren't essential unless you're an engine, a gearbox or a twat

im surprised your mate even told them. Brundle said that the makers of the fuel cell shouldnt even mentioned anything about sizes b/c its breach of privacy or something as most teams go to same company?

I dont know if its been picked up on or even true (I cant be bothered to watch the rerrun), but I think both Mercedes drivers went out on the hard tires to do their final laps. Possible advantage for them tomorrow? Especially if the safety car doesnt come out early.

Yes but they didn't set their quickest time on those tyres, therefore they'll have to start on softs like everyone else.

Nope, no advantage as they set fastest laps with softs

Wow at Vettel's pole lap, just WOW. That was mesmeric. He's really starting to show a Senna-like talent for pole laps - and that's coming from someone who usually resists any comparison between Senna and a current driver.

RBR are showing a pace that must be ominous for the rest of the field this season - once they've got their car fine-tuned and the reliability issues sorted, they'll surely be immense.

For UK people, what time will f1 start due to the time change? Will it stay as advertised on tv schedule or change?

It'll either be 6am (before change) or 5am (after change) as the clocks move forward, not back.

Looking at DigiGuide it will remain at 6am as it seems to include the clocks moving forward is factored into the guide. Don't take my word for it though!

I miss the old start time of the australian GP, because it was late Saturday night for us here in Canada. Now the race starts at 2am for us :P. I guess its a better viewing time for you guys in Europe though. Each year I would make up a big plate of chicken wings and garlic bread and maybe get a pizza and have a few beers and watch the race. Now I get up around 1:30am and try to stay awake for the race :)

I don't understand the start time if it was changed to suit the Europeans.

The average viewer isn't going to make an effort to get up at 6:45am to start watching, only those who are up already. The hardcore fans will of course, but then they'd get up at 4am anyway.

I woke at 4:45 this morning (usefully, as I'd forgotten to set the alarm) and switched my PC on so it would record it, but I couldn't be bothered to watch it, so I got back in bed and slept until 7:30 or so. If me, a fan, can't be bothered to watch it until 7:30am, Joe Public isn't going to... they might as well have kept it at a normal time to suit other countries... though I guess a later start does slightly increase the chance of rain. ;)

As an Aussie, living in Melbourne and having gone to every GP here in Melbourne, i HATE the new start time! It makes for a very long day, which is long enough already! I don't think the later start time enhances the event at all, and according to a newspaper article I read here the other day, the TV viewing numbers in Europe have barely changed. The drivers say they don't like the new time, as after around an hour, they are looking directly into the sun on several corners. The Aus GP organisers are in a tough spot though - if they dispute their start time, Bernie might just say see ya later to Melbourne hosting a GP.

Personally, I would much rather have the old traditional 2-3pm start, and even bring back the 30 minute Sunday warm up sessions!

Right, off for a big hearty breakfast now, and off to the track in a few hours....

Australian GP will start at 6am GMT, or 7am BST (if you have put your clock forward an hour).

This is 5pm local time.

I said it was dampers without even reading the article ;) Clever me :-)

Well, just gone 9PM here of course, clocks go forward to 2AM at 1AM IIRC, and the counter on the BBC F1 page says about 7hrs 40mins till the GP.
Which means a 6AM race start. I think. :P
