Thats not bad, but I think I'm right in saying most woulda wanted a return to black 'n' gold...

As said above, the black and gold were the colour of sponsors (John Players Special). The Lotus team colours were always dark green with a yellow stripe, as seen here.

I like the livery. It's never going to look as good as the original, as the original had barely any logos on it, but it's about as good as they could make it. Fantastic to see some nostalgia, even if the team itself isn't really Lotus.

Lotus F1 published this video of the shakedown... There some shots that are flipped... or they have put the wrong textures to the shape... damn Raül, forgot about GP4 once in your life!!!

The lotus is realy nice, similar colors than the older ones, but will be as effective as them...

The race suits looks great. If they add some white parts to the car as well, it would be much better.

Looks much nicer on track than in the shots.

As a new and as you'd expect they have taken a very methodical approach and it looks a simple clean design, a good baseline !

The rear undercut of the sidepods remind me of the late 90's cars. Front wing looks to be a combo of many teams from last year.

Would like to get a direct over head shot and direct side view but it looks good . The yellow rims especially!

Also a mention. The only comparisons we can make are against Virgin being the only other new team. Its interesting to note the differences in approach between Gascoyne and Wirth. This car started its life in Mikes home office with him running some CFD sims before the project turned into a fully fledged F1 team. Mike also being the only one of the two to have recent F1 experience. Will be interesting to see how the performance compares on track.

Thanks Gav, for some reason what the "S" in JPS stood for evaded me when I was writing that post.

I'm not the most nostalgic of people, but Lotus have adapted their colour scheme very well to suit a modern F1 car, still looks good despite a VERY different carshape.

Has anyone seen Kovalainen`s "new" helmet???

I found nothing on internet, and no pics here too...

I think it's mostly the nose and front wing supports that give that impression. However since most of the "Lotus" engineering team are ex Toyota including gascoyne (albeit via findia) some resemblence to the Toyota wouldn't be surprising. Heck! They even got part of the driving lineup!

Ok, so of all the teams who had announced launch dates, all of them have now launched, just remains to see what USF1, Campos (and possibly StefanGP) will do. I suspect USF1 might be launching later than their "date" of early February because their crash testing might not have gone according to plan.

I thought USF1 said pictures of their car will be first released on facebook... lol.

Kovy looks like an actor from a star wars movie or something... the car looks nice on track.. it looks as if it was from 2009, but i hope it does well.. even if i don't like Kovy that much, Jarno seems ike a good guy and Kovy as well

hey guys dont know about you but i think the only thing that looks good about lotus is the race suit. It looks absolutly great and i have no words for it.

the car scheme is awesome, and the suit too. Lotus used in the 60s to have that colours in the car, and in all the photos of Jim Clark that i´ve seen he is wearing a white suit

If Lotus had used a black livery it might have made it hard to spot with a Virgin F1 car, which is largely black.

Irrelevant. That hasn't stopped Mercedes / McLaren, has it?
