Yes, we have been here a few years ago. It all happened before and it will all happen again.

Renault have now said they will pull out.

So we could be left with mclaren, Force India, Brawn and Williams.

Can't see Mclaren leaving because of the whole Mercedes partnership.

Unless Mercedes want out over all this?!?

They see their path back to the top being paved with all these teams pulling out ;)

Williams tends to be at the other teams' side too, Patrick Head when asked about it looked a bit pissed, he mentioned some teams would have 1.5 sec / 2 secs advanatge with a simple movable flap just in rear wing for example and that would be totally unfair, of course looks like exxageration for him to make a point but sums up Williams' position about it.

I would miss the heritage but seriously we've seen teams like that leave before, Lotus was mentioned earlier, F1 could live without Williams, Ferrari though I'm not so sure, there a big pulling factor for Sponsors and fans

Lotus had a bigger part in F1 history than Ferrari, in the 60s and 70s it was just "wow", while Ferrari had the glamour from the sportscars and being there from day 1. Ferrari was just a decent team if you don't take the power of the name into account, again a name that to me is so big because of their history outside of F1.

Anyway, Ferrari won't leave.

Renault and Toyota are only looking for an excuse to pull out really.

I think that all (specialey FIA) will seriously rethink their points and that FIA will listen more teams (FOTA) in future, and all will end with agreement. If that happen then this 'threat' will do its purpose.
in opposite scenario i can see ferrari (and some others) really leave F1.

P.S. This situation reminds me how FIA killed ITC (DTM) in end '96. But I'm not familiar with all that happen back then.

Lotus failed to score a podium for 6 years and were largely a nonentity by the time they bankrupted

right now Ferrari are doing their best to emulate that but they have been in contention for championships 11 of the last 12 years

Well for starters Williams may be looking for a new engine supplier. I cant see Mercedes sticking round either which then puts McLaren, Force India and Brawn in a very tricky situation. Has anyone heard anything yet from BMW though?

They can all use the engine Max was going on about.

last thursday there was a question about it in the press conference, this is what the drivers said:

Q: (Paul Logothetis – Associated Press) Max Mosley said this week that he can imagine F1 without Ferrari in the future. Just wondering if you guys felt the same way.
LH: I couldn’t imagine it.
FA: No, impossible.
GF: Yes, without Ferrari I don’t think it would be Formula One anymore.
NH: Yeah, it was a bit strange hearing that from him because I thought that people were looking and listening to the fans worldwide and Ferrari is obviously the biggest name in F1 with many supporters and has been there since the very beginning, so they belong in F1 for sure.

The question should be "can you imagine F1 without Max"

I think most people would say it would be better.

I just dont get why Max does this stuff. Yet again another good year of F1 has been ruined by off track problems, thats 3 years in a row now.

Yeah, that was the idea of the restrictions placed on KERS power and boost-time-per-lap for its first year. So that the teams that didn't manage to get it working in time wouldn't be too heavily disadvantaged. The fact that there's not much to call between using it and not using it at the moment, means that the level they set is about right.

Once they increase the power and/or boost time per lap from next season, it'll make a much bigger difference (although it will be mandatory by then, so we won't see KERS cars racing against non-KERS anyway).

Anyway, as for Ferrari, I personally am loving seeing them do so badly at the moment (just as I'd love to see Man U have a terrible season). But it would definitely be bad for the sport to lose them.

Are they throwing their toys out of the pram? Perhaps, but I'm glad because someone has to stop the FIA from dictating everything. They need to listen to the teams, and fans, for once! The stupid poker-style bluffs and ultimatums are just a ridiculous way to run things.

IMHO
