Well, I guess what I'm trying to say is that this only re-inforces the point. I used to be a big McLaren fan, up till 2006. After that, it all got downhill from there. These days I don't really care what they do. In fact, I'm finding it really funnny how wrong they got this year's car, hehe.

He didnt get beaten in 2007, they scored the same amount of points, in a team where the manager has his tongue so far up Hamiltons arse that he actually said 'We're not racing Kimi, we're racing Fernando'.

they are all idiots :p

I've never been much of a Macca fan anyway, they leave this dour, self-important impression that is impossible to shake. For some reason drunken, monosybillic Finns make them more appealing, but Kovaleinen is not in that mould. Speaking of which, how much does it suck to be Kovaleinen at Macca? You get a sense that he's not too far off Lewis' pace, but luck/team interests dent his performance. Get out of there quick would be my advice.

McLaren is becoming a bit like Ferrari used to be. A team built around one man: Hamilton. I can understand it though, it's most of the time the best way (but far from the most popular one) and McLaren remember very well what happened in 2007 when they let their drivers fight eachother...

There's no issue with Mclaren wanting a corporate identity, and the three exceptions you cited were the main drivers that they had 1998 to 2006.

Mclaren are what people tought Ferrai used to be...

i don't really think they let their drivers fight each other, and now i believe jack @#$%& what they said in 2007, for me, Alonso said the truth

and now Hamilton threats his fans like some clowns, i mean 7 days ago he was delighted with 3rd and all the stuff he said after the race
but now he says that he felt the most akward and uncomfortable and that it was the worst thing..... oh God, whoever believes in that load of bunch of bull@#$%& must have some serious brain damage!

and yeah blame it on Ryan, of course, it's better to blame it in one man than the whole team...
had it been truth the guy would've been fired by now, not suspended...

isn't the "spy" guy still suspended?

+1
Though, at the beginning of 2007, I still wanted them to get the constructors' title.

Hmm yeah, you have a point there - Kimi was almost half a second faster than Rubens on FP1. All I knew about Melbourne's practice sessions was that Rosberg was on top, because I watch only qualifying and race.

Still, I do hope that Brawn can fine tune their car. If their diffuser does give them +/- 0.5 seconds per lap as other teams say, they have some work to do before tomorrow's qual.

I think Brawn are majorly sandbagging with a lot of fuel for practice. The Ferrari's are quick, but I don't think that'll carry through to the race, especially if the KERS keeps doing what happened to Raikkonen's car. The Williams have good pace, as seemingly do McLaren.

I think what is happening with Brawn is several things actually. For starters, Melbourne is a unique track where things get very crazy. Ferrari was nowhere last year there, and at the next race owned everyone. So my guess is that Brawn was a bit lucky with the direction they took with the initial setup in Melbourne. This is in part because Brawn had very little testing, so they probably don't understand enough of the car to arrive at every track 100%. So in the start of the year they might be a bit hit and miss.

Also, their car is very quick on a single lap, and although fast over a stint, they are a lot more balanced with the other teams. I fully expect them to get pole again, but during the race, Ferrari might pose a good threat, specially with Kimi who always run well at Sepang.

Oh, and Williams, although fast, seem to have some problem with tyre degradation...remember how quick Nico ate his soft tyres?

If there is rain though, I'm guessing (hoping, actually) this won't be a problem. The Williamses do appear quick, and whether or not they have some aim to P1 as many practices as they can, regardless of true pace, it is great to see them back at the sharp-end.

If rain appears... The most likely drivers to do a good race are Kimi, Alonso, Rubens, Lewis and Vettel... Dont know Kubica... and neither Massa, yes, i know the Silverstone issue, but in Brazil the first laps were eith rain and he won...

Might be stupid suggestion but Around Barcelona, most teams will be bringing out the new cars with the new diffusers (if they are legalised) so i wonder if Ferrari might go with one kers car and one non kers car and see it might go on a circuit and test out the car that way. After that choose which they want to run the in race. Would that be allowed since the 3rd car issue has been taken out?

I don't know, but if I were Ferrari and it's allowed, I'd probably be doing it.

Ferrari wont be dropping kers soon as they need it to get the laptimes they get, its the only reason they keep using it, without it they would be slower

i think the problem with Williams is their drivers, Nico is ok, but i'm seriously starting to think he's overrated

i'm predicting Piquet to abandon the race, can i?

Not sure if I agree. Nico may not be an uber-super-duper driver, but he's never really had a winning car to show what he's made of.

Can I predict that the sun will rise and set tomorrow? ;)

Nico isn't overrated at all. He just needs to calm down a lot as a driver and stop trying too hard. He used up his soft tyres in Melbourne because he went too hard on them too soon. The potential's there; he just needs to unlock it - or at least unlock it much more regularly.

Nakajima, though... he could be a different matter.

> i'm predicting Piquet to abandon the race, can i?

Piquet will probably go flying off even if there's excess humidity in the air :P

Pk will blame sweaty feet slipping off the brake pedal when he crashes off at turn 1...

2013 - Nando must come through..

I agree with alot of points, including the fact that Button will be on pole, and Ferraris will be very dangerous in the race. However if it rains i can't see Ferrari getting anywhere, they just won't be able to utilise KERS which is their main point of speed right now.

Problem is for everyone is that both Brawn drivers have prooved to be extremely quick in the wet. Wet can throw in problems but i could see Ferrari going backwards in the rain and Vettel and Hamilton going forwards (just how i read it off of previous wet race performances).

Also, diffusers - while the high cost (especially for Ferrari having to develop a new rear on the car) the teams that don't have faster diffusers would probably be best off getting them if they are legal. Howeve i have read alot of tech reports that indicate that there is no way all of Brawns speed comes from their diffuser, so teams can't just ely on a new diffuser to make their cars go faster
