Its trying to artificially spice up the championship. As a driver in the car, Lewis couldn't tell how much of an advantage Kimi had before and give exactly the same back. Kimi could have blocked Lewis, but he didn't. Tough luck, its racing.

i presume the 25second penalty represents the equiv of having a drive-thru penalty during the race

There's an easy way to stop them doing that... stop giving them opportunities to penalise you. He should have won anyway, even if he'd dropped back 3 seconds or more. He was quicker than Kimi.

SchueyFan, good point on the Magny-Cours thing.

I can not see what the problem is to be honest. Kimi was leading at the start of the lap, therefore he had the position back.

I guess Massa's or Kimi's antics in the pitlane in Valencia were no where near as dangerous considering the 10's of people in the pitlane at the time.

Extremely, you need luck on your side to win though.

But Hamilton didn't even give him a car length. Is it acceptable to cut a corner in order to get close enough to make a move?

None of which were near the incident in question.

I expect them to appeal it.

In france he passed a car here he gave the place back.

The thing is it seems no matter what he done he would have got the penalty give the place back or not. I think its harsh tbh why did no one get a penalty in Monaco for cutting the chicane

what complete and utter bollocks. Hamilton at least attempted to give Kimi the position back. If he hadn't of bothered and just drove into the distance chances he he would of been more than 25s ahead of Heidfeld as well. I suppose the FIA would rather that he he caused an accident than attempt to avoid one by cutting the track. He clearly gave the place back to Kimi, as Kimi cut across lewis' front

Disgrace. Absolute disgrace. There is no consistency coming from the stewards recently. He was ahead by the start of the chicane and had every right to go around the outside, Kimi pushed him wide and forced him to go over the run off (otherwise there would have been a collision). Yes, Hamilton was ahead after the corner but not only did he let him past, he let him ease out over the straight. It wasn't momentum why he then went back ahead at T1, it was the fact Kimi braked early! How can you have momentum over someone if you have to let them back past?!

Absolute disgrace...

EDIT: Just also noticed! Why hasn't Kimi been given a penalty of some description? He was under investigation too and surely him running around the outside of the track at Pouhon gave him lots of extra momentum and a slingshot at overtaking Lewis into the Fagnes chicane!

This year he have also done more mistakes, than anyone. So that about his "bad luck". He is actually really lucky because FIA loves him so much.

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

Hamilton also went off at Pouhon but just rejoined the track before the artificial grass area or whatever it was. Raikkonen just rejoined after that area.

Damn FIA. I've watched many similar accidents to those with Heikki and Webber and none of them had been given penalty. And Lewis had hat to cut chicane in order to avoid a collision, and after that he also let Kimi pass him. If he collided with Kimi, then he would ave been punished because of causing an accident. Who's the rival of McLaren? Ferrari? Or FIA?

OK, I must to say that F1 now really start to stink in all possible ways.
Maybe Hamilton made a mistake and deserve penalty but I'm not sure about this. If is he guilty then would be more fair to give him 5 or 10 grid places in next race. In last few years we have many unlogical or call it unconstant stewards decisions.
There must be really fine described and known rules (I think that some rules are to hard and maybe because that drivers dont drive wheel to wheel like before...).
I not specially like Hamilton (his is definitely great/good driver, but I simply not fan of him) and I declare myself like FERRARI fan in first and fan of some drivers (drivers come and go).

Short memory syndrome. Are you forgetting the start to the season Lewis had? It's only luck that he's in the title race at all.

Bollocks he forced him to go off. Kimi made a counter-move and pulled it off. He was nearly a car length in front (Kimi's rear wheels were level with Hamilton's front wheels). Hamilton chose to drive off the track rather than simply back off.

Hamilton would have been further behind Kimi than he was if he'd stuck to the confines of the race track, therefore he gained an advantage. That he then overtook Kimi into turn 1 was just taking the piss.

If he's over shot the chicane, stayed behind Kimi and then got a run at him up through Eau Rouge, he wouldn't have been penalised. As it was he did an Alonso '05.

That he let Kimi overtake isn't the point though...
