But he slowed down to let Kimi back through, so any momentum he gained would have been lost anyway wouldn't it? The McLaren was just so much better at slowing down in the wet conditions so he could break later.

I haven't actually seen replays yet so my opinion could change of course.

Well actually as I saw it, if Hamilton hadn't cut the corner, he would've been in a worse position because in the current case he let Kimi ahead just as much as he wanted and he needed to. And if it hadn't happened like this maybe he wouldn't pass him anyway later.

Makes no difference anyway kimi hit him and spun Lewis was lucky not to get a flat tyre.

Lewis let kimi passed and backed off if they give him a penalty there will be up raw simple as that.

But with the stewards you just never know.

OMG Kimi...cant believe it! Why did it have to rain with 2 laps left!

Hamilton imo deserves a penalty. Remember in Japan when Alonso did the same thing to a redbull driver i think (maybe webber?) and he had to give the place up a 2nd time as the 1st time it was unfair as he did the same thing Hamilton did to Kimi.

Basicly only penalty wich would make any sence wud be for Kimi for crashing without reason from behind..

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

Yeah but he did have the choice not to cut the corner, but then he would've been in a much worse position.
You can call that move brilliant but very unfair also..

I'm not sure they did touch. Certainly very close, but it just looked like Hamilton turned left instead of backing off.

It seems that ferrari loosing ground little by little.
Have feel that mclaren will easily win at monza like last year.

To bed that rain started just before last 3-4 laps, would be much better if it was about 12 laps before finish.

Difference is Alonso could slow down to let Klien back passed kimi crashed later so lewis could not let him pass.

Lewis avoided a crash with kimi there should be no penalty,

Kimi did hit lewis at the 1st corner for no reason at all, they should look at that.

maybe lewis could have let him past properly the first time or maybe let kimi go through t1 and slipstream him on the straight or something...

if kimi was still infront then maybe he might not have crashed

exactly! he didnĀ“t overtake kimi but if he had taken the chicane correctly he would have been a lot more behind kimi.

Kimi crashed a lap later. Hamilton had plenty of time to let him through.

But he kept an advantage by just blending out of the throttle (wasn't even a car length behind) and then just overtook at La Source. How isn't that gaining an advantage?

Felipe for WDC now...

Such shame that raikkonen had a rain to ruin his best result after a long gap. Ferrari have to back Felipe now, if they don't then its Hamilton to win. Achieve that Jenson Button ;)

I expect that Lewis will get a grid place penalty for the Italian GP, whether he deserves it or not it up to debate but i suspect the powers that be will want to make things a bit more even for the Championship.

Was annoyed by the bias James was showing towards Lewis again, sometimes he can keep it in check but today he was as bad as ever, the obvious dissapointment in his voice when Kimi got past Lewis at the start was hilarious.

Spa is such a great circuit, we had such good racing wet or dry.

Amazing end to the race.

"what's the difference between Alonso vs Klien at Suzuka '05 and Hamilton vs Raikkonen on the S/F straight?" Totally agree Hamilton choose to turn left instead of making the corner, he gained a sizeable advantage by doing that.

Then it came down to who made the biggest mistake.

Hamilton should get a 10 place penalty imo, but should keep his win, what a great race.

edit: the japan 05 story for those who can't remember: Alonso cut a corner passed Kline, Alonso let him through but then ducked into his slip stream, passing him at turn 1, Alonso was then asked to let Kline through again and let him retake the position, Charlie Whiting stating that letting him retake the position should not be the start of an overtaking move, which as we've all seen, is excatly what lewis did.

DAMN!, poor Kimi, he done everything right, from the start, i do think it ws weird that he pushed Massa to the inside when he was passing him, but anyways, he was doing everything right, i guess you can't fight destiny, altough at the end he lost his head and the car.
i think it was stupid not to call Massa to switch tyres, it would've paid off, like Nick proved!, BTW, great race for NIck, Kovalainen pushed him wide at the strat and Nick lost everything, but came back to 3rd, great race for him, and for Alonso..

i don't think Hamilton should be penalized, it would be as stupid as taking the win away from Massa at Valencia, and if you look, Kimi move twice in the braking area, so maybe that's what they are investigating?

anyways, i hope Ferrari now back 100% Massa from now on, as it loks imposible for Kimi to catch up

To a point. You might not be able to control whether you hit the water or not, but how you approach that situation has an impact upon your chances of smashing it in to the wall.

I know what you mean, but we've seen it a few times over the last couple of seasons, and no-one's been penalised for it, so it would be unfair to apply a penalty.

+1 to that.
