As we can see, their launch contracl launched them straight into the gravel ;)

lol at this entire page ;)

If even experienced drivers like Alonso are going in the gravel in testing, imagine what it will be like during the actual Grand Prix when they're under pressure.

I think you all make far too much issue of this TC subject. The fact of the matter is that most junior series do not have TC, so all of the drivers have reached F1 without out the use of TC. Some have experience of F1 with out TC. Many have GP2 experience without TC.

These are also the best drivers in the world (kind of). And it is not going to take them long to adapt their styles to meet the new regulations.

The Engine braking issue would actually appear to be more tricky than the TC. Because it's made corner entry more tricky and easier to lock up under braking. But again by the time the season starts they will be on top of this.

Yet Lewis went off and people made a big deal of it funny that :)

Yeah, but they have to handle a lot less power than f1 drivers i think. I can drive my dad's car also without TC ;)

But yeah, they do have the experience and the talent, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I think that if a driver doesn't go off the track from time to time in testing is that he is not testing properly...

I think that if a driver does go off the track from time to time in testing he is not testing properly. Tests are mainly about car development, which calls for the driver to be consistent in order for an accurate development curve. If it's about driver acclimatisation, say for the lack of TC and engine braking then ok, you may have a point.

the power delivery on the GP2 cars was far more abrupt ;-)

It is about car development, sure and the final criteria about it comes from the driver who has to transmit his sensations. If a driver goes off the track is because at that point, the limit was passed. I think both sides are important, to know the car behavior and driver acclimatisation.

Obviously, if a driver is constantly off, is because something is not working well. There are drivers who are off the track more than others, for sure.

I was hoping they'd make some noticeable changes in the livery.

Yummy livery IMHO :) Shame about the f**k-ugly winglets plastered all over the back.

Re: Alonso going off...
Driving a racing car quickly, at any level, is all about driving on the limit. In order to find out where the limit is, at some point you've got to go over it. That's all this is. Nando finding the limit, so that he can drive on it and blow everyone away this year. ;)

Was just reading the interviews and how good flav is at not allowing driver problems.

I seem to remember a number of problems with alonso at renault in the past, where he was going mad at fissi for not helping him in China, Canada and Turkey and saying Renault were not helping him. People seem to forget these things.

If Piquet starts beating alonso I am sure we will see the same sad face as last year.

In a way I do hope Alonso can turn things round and show what a good driver he is, he just needs to stay away from the polotics as he really does not seem good at them.

Alonso says Renault a second behind :

"At the moment, there is not any possibility to fight for podiums or wins, or things like that, so that is the first priority of this winter tests and the first race.

"To close the gap, and to be behind them two or three tenths is not such a big problem.

"But to be one second or eight tenths, like we are at the moment, is a little bit too much," the Spaniard added.
