Rubens lacks the killer instinct that Schumacher and Senna had to be world champions, he is a good driver but not a great one. Saying that the same applies to Button imo.

Well, we disagree, then. I fully believe in Button and I think that he has it. Honda just needs to give him a good car.

I messed up my post. I meant to say that he is a very good driver. The champion bit stands though.

Button would have won lots more races by now then. 2004 BAR had a good car, yet all he managed was 2nd place...Montoya and Kimi managed wins in far worse cars that year...

Oh, well... the 2004 car wasnt good enough to challenge the Ferraris, but I said that if they could deliver him the same car but with some improvements he could probably challenge them for the wins consistently.

And looks like Shanghai will be a wet race, so prepare your wet michelins to see another Button show :)

The McLaren and Williams also weren't good enough to challenge the Ferrari. Exatcly my point...Button should've been able to win that year at some point.

Bah, I quit with all the wet hoping. When weekend comes it'll be all sunny again...

I dont think so. In 2004 the german dominated it all, so for it to happen Button needed the same lucky he had at hungary :) Some can say that he won it on lucky, but he overtook Alonso and MS in the first part of the race and I believe that he would have catched Kimi if the finn didnt decided to go over Liuzzi... Button deserved it, a brilliant race and brilliant strategy.

I'm not saying he didn't deserve it at Hungary. Just saying that if he was so great, he would have snatched his first win long before. BTW, Button isn't the only good wet racer on track currently...Barrichello, Kimi, Alonso...all great wet racers...

With a good car everybody could be champion in the rigth situation.

MS is a proof of that theory.

Now tell him to be a champion in a Minardi, oh, wait, they arent here anymore. OK, tell him to be a champion in a MF1 Spyker, I doubt it :)

MS couldn't be champion in an MF1, but nor could Senna or JB.

I wouldnt doubt of Senna given the fact that he almost won Monaco 1984 in his first season with a car much more underpowered than the Mf1 (Toleman-Hart)...

Which was in a terrible rain IIRC.

Rain is called the equalizer isn't it?

And almost winning one race doesn't make you champion doesn't it? He had 13 points that year, sadly he was just a few points short to be champion...

Yeah, rainy races put everyone on the same level, unless you get shitty tyres. Besides, Senna was just superb in the rain, which made things a lot easier in that 1984 race...

He didn't win one at Lotus.

So,no.

Senna won the 1987 Monaco GP in a Lotus.

I mean world championship.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Barrichello was good enough to be champion, he finished 2nd in the championship twice, now imagine if in those 2 years Alex Yoong would have been driving the Ferrari instead of MS, no doubt Barrichello would have dominated the championship.

Lotus was already a mid-field team in the early 80's and Senna just shooted them to be the fourth team on top for three seasons. You can see after he moved to McLaren where Lotus was - the back of the grid. Clearly Senna did a huge difference to them, Gerard Ducarouge (Lotus designer) and Peter Warr (Lotus team chief) can give you enough proof of it.

Maybe one more year with them and he would have won the 1988 title in a Lotus not a McLaren, but who knows. No need to mention that when he moved to McLaren, he brought the japanese engines and Ducarouge with him, leaving Lotus with nothing.
