Yeah Shcumacher could'nt drive the peugeot or citreon because of the ferrari connection

I enjoyed the ROC but from the outset it was always going to favour the rally drivers

Despite it being on tarmac the nature of the custom built circuit suited the drifting style of drivers i.e rally specialists.

Racing drivers rather than rally drivers are used to driving lap after consistent lap inch perfect rather than throwing a car into a corner and drifting out of it like the WRC boys do

maybe next time the organisers ought to level the field a bit more and select a place that has an actual race track so the race drivers have less of a disadvantage to the sideways style of rally cars and include actual proper single seaters

maybe they ought to hold it at Rockingham next time?

that way you could include some nascar/cart action on the oval, DTM and single seater action on the touring car infield section and then construct a rally stage some where inbetween

then all forms of motorsport would be catered for and not geared towards rally drivers

ESSENTIAL OILS aren't essential unless you're an engine, a gearbox or a twat

well the ROC has always been a rallying end of season event, it would be a shame if that changed, hence why i was pissed off at the nature of the circuit. I dont think it favored the rally drivers over all after all buggys are a bit in between and they had ferraris to drive. Rally drivers are generally more adaptable anyway so it may have favored them in that sence, but not much else, it was setup to give each a good chance this year.

the idea is good LS but i think its a bit of a no go seen as there wouldnt be room to allow all that to be run at rockingham, there certainly isnt enough room for any type of rally stage i dont think.

If they could fit the same size sort of area that they had in the satade de france somewhere in the paddock area they could gravel it to make a rally course

it amazed me that the so called race of champions cater more for the rally driver style of driving more than anything, and was unfair for the other competitors

what happened? did he sit in the car and try to start the engine, but it wouldn't start because iot identified him as a ferrari driver!!

its like in that simpsons episode where they're on the run, and Homers licence has been taken.

they jump in the car, and one of the other family members says "But you can't drive, you haven't got your license", and Homer starts the cars, and said, "Well I'll give it a try", and when he pulls away, "IT WORKED!".

ROC - Kovalainen puts Schumacher in shade
Kovalainen most impressive in Race of Champions

Seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher found himself overshadowed on Saturday as young Finn Heikki Kovalainen beat him on his way to winning the Race of Champions at the Stade de France.

The 23-year-old Finn, the 2004 Nissan World Series winner, became the youngest driver to win the event which features the world's top drivers competing against each other in a variety of cars.

Kovalainan beat defending champion, and recently crowned world rally champion Sebastien Loeb of France in the final. Watched by 60,000 people, the Finn eliminated David Coulthard in his first match and then disposed of Jean Alesi.

That put him into the semi-final where be beat Schumacher by just under a second. Schumacher was unworried by the defeat, preferring to concentrate on the event's fund-raising for a spinal and brain charity.

Loeb made the final beating Tony Kanaan, Armin Schwarz and 2003 Champion of Champions Marcus Gronholm. The final was wrapped up in two legs two cars - a world rally Peugeot 307 and a Ferrari 360 Modena.

The Finn won both. "I just can't believe it," said Kovalainan. "Especially the fact that I beat rallying's World Champion in a WRC car. Amazing! And it's not every day you get a chance to beat Michael Schumacher. That was a big moment. I just tried to attack a little harder, brake a little later."

Notice that the only one truly affected by penalties was Massa, as Schumi would have been out right away hot

that rule is rubbish, i used to love this event in gran canaria because it was usually pure mayhem.

I remember a few years ago, Robby Gordon in a SEAT was leading becuase the other guy crashed, then all on his own, clipped a bank and barrell rolled down the track and stopped on his roof.

They used to have alot of motogp and superbike riders doing it too, really made for a cracking event. It seems like the FIA have got involved now because it looks so sanitised and dull. Just like F1 is now.

ah well, good show from Heikki.
