I think it looks pretty average, whats the point in putting a rally even on whats more like a circuit? i was extremely dissapointed when i saw that, especially as they layout is pretty bland, it reminded me more of a scalextric track. I wonder if they are using magnetraction... ;)

Well, if you remember, they have held speedway in there before, this is only an oval of course, but it proves the possability of putting a "loose" surface down, and has been proved in the shots above a fairly complex track is possable, therefore, it would have been perfectly possable to put a loose surface and a superspecial type track with a bit more variety, you dont need more corners, but thats nearly as bad as the "mirrored" rusian track we saw a few months ago, not only that its very wide, much wider than need be at points as can be seen by comparing vehicles and people on that pic.

""

edit: just looking at the second pic its absolutly mirrored...

with a loose surface you cant use all the cars planned as one of them is an FIA GT spec Ferrari 360GT

Of course its mirrored, its a SS stage like in rally isnt it? So you get direct head to heads....?

yes, but since the tracks are designed so you do a lpa on each it doesnt have to be mirrored as they will both drive the same distance. Its mirrored so that the fans can see more easily whos in the lead.

Ah, i didnt realise there was a racing car involved, the race of champions (this race of champions anyway, not the previously named F1 race) has always been rally cars only, still circuit sucks ;)
edit: im still looking forward to it, though, is it being broadcast on eurosport this weekend?

the track looks OK for a race like that. Spectators can see the whole track and that's cool.

has always been rally cars only,

Yeh. This year we have 2 WRC cars (pug and Citreon), one special RPC car with a 1.7L Honda engine, and a Ferrari 360GT

Reading whats been happening, the whole thing sounded crap. They are giving out 10 second penelties to any driver which touched the wall which means the results you see are not the results which will count. And Schumacher couldnt drive anything but the Ferrari because of contracts. So whats the point?

Also quite funny that Massa beat Schumacher but got a 10 second penelty and lost. Schumacher clipped the tyre chicane on the bridge...and got nothing.

Schumacher just beat Loeb in the champion of champions head to head by 2 races to 1, Schumacher drove the Honda CBR 1100cc Blackbird

Its been great to watch, Mcrae and DC both lost on their first races, dunno how well they'll do in the Race of Nations cup thats up next though

where's the time that almost all the F1 drivers raced in bercy... loved that event.

strange results ocured over there. The year when schumacher raced in his red kart, pedro lamy won the race!

It was a good event, of course its only a bit of fun and nothing can be read into it, but it was a shame colin (He didnt loose) he got a 10s penaulty for hitting a wall that probably cost him a second or so) he would have done well otherwise, however its only a bit of fun, it was great to watch, and a good specticle, whether it was as good as the original over in gran caneria im not so sure to be honnest, though, they are both fantastic to watch, despite the track.
