No other manufacturers to fight.... No suprise.

Dont forget though, its Vauxhall pulling out, not Triple8 who run them.

I think the BTCC will survive...

Can't blame Vauxhall. They have been there for 20 years and been the biggest supporter of them all for the BTCC. Even when they rolled out the Vectra and had to play back seat to Audi, Volvo, Nissan and Honda, they still supported the series. Everyone left, they moved to S2000 rules, they still stuck there. Then everyone left again and they hung around, but why bother?

should be a few more names on the grid this weekend, Paul o'neill's back, James Thompson's going to be driving a civic for team dynamics (replacing Sheddon) and as Chet said Mat Jackson's driving an RML Lacetti, although I'm yet to see anywhere if Plato is confirmed for thruxton or not...

Are you standing on the exit of Church, on the outside? If so, the rest of us can go "w00t" too!

*claps slowly*

I got put on Post 6 at the complex! It was pretty good, lots of action in the support races, the BTCC was a massive let down, the most civilised i have ever seen them. Oh, well apart from Jason Plato but thats to be expected nowadays.

Managed to catch all 3 races today.

Yay Matt Jackson. I became a fan of his last year after watching some of his wet drives, and ever since been quite the fan. A 3nd, 2nd and 1st today! I think he's missed a few races this year though...

Great weekend of racing, Plato with two awesome drives! Im glad the BTCC is getting back to be good, it will never return to its former glory but it's certainly been improving over the years! The small field is made up by the awesome racing!

Watched a bit of it today, was good fun. I like the way they show all the events, I guess there's not much else to put on ITV4 during the day on a sunday!

Shame they didn't show the first Porsche Carrera Cup race. It was one of the best races I've ever seen. Damp start, so some started on wets and some on slicks. In the end, the mid-field guys who started on slicks lapped the likes of Bridgeman and Harvey.

Ginetta's are very average for close racing, but are more than made up for by the Ginetta Juniors, which have provided some fantastic racing all season - just a shame that some of the kids can't afford to carry on, so they're down to around 12-15 cars or so.

They did. It was on tape delay between the races.

The car counts this week were awful.

Generally, yeah. On TV - no idea yet, but probably. At the circuit, not at all. Any other track, it would have been piss-poor, but given the length of the lap and how much of the lap you can see at Knockhill, it made sod-all difference. The entertainment didn't suffer at all either... like I say, at the circuit.

The Ginetta turnout was the only disappointment for me, and it is a shame to see a few less recently Juniors than there were in the first half of the year, but BTCC was fine given the circuit and the PCCGB had their biggest turnout all year apparently... that was pretty manic, even in the boring 2nd race. Legends were excellent in the second race around the back of the track, while they looked boring in the damp conditions in first race from the hairpin, though there was a big-screen so you could see the rest of the track.

Well there was 10 Ginettas, 16 BTCC entries, which is just shocking. The Legends weren't broadcast due to the existing TV deal they have.

Indeed, the drivers that were missing were McMillan, Bell, Morrison, Nash and Jones. Only people that were really missed out of those two were Nash and Jones :) Jones, Nash and Bell should be back at Silverstone, but Morrison and McMillan all depends on money really. Also got Reid coming in as an extra for WSR, should in theory bring the total back upto 20 runners!

Also got Johnny Herbert replacing Thompson as he's off to do Bathurst apparantly, which should be good! :D

Damn, Just got this from the Cartridge World Mailing list -

Cartridge World is disappointed to confirm that Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing is unable to line up on the grid for the final three weekends of the 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), following the withdrawal of Team CVR (Clyde Valley Racing), the original outfit behind the carbon-zero racing team.

Cartridge World and both team drivers, Adam Jones and Gordon Shedden, have investigated various options to enable them to compete in the last three weekends’ races. However, they have concluded that this will not be possible, and therefore Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing will no longer appear in the championship.

Cartridge World has expressed its disappointment that Team CVR has had to withdraw. As well as ensuring it always met its contractual obligations with Team CVR, Cartridge World offered the team access to specialists on its management team, aiming to create as beneficial a relationship as possible for both parties.

Mark Holland, UK General Manager for Cartridge World, said: “Cartridge World, and both team drivers have had a hectic few days investigating how we could keep the striking yellow cars on the grid. The will was certainly there, but in the end we have had to admit that we are unable to make it happen.
“Cartridge World, its franchisees and customers have thoroughly enjoyed following Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing. We are proud to be associated with the first team created with the intention of operating a completely carbon zero operation, and we remain committed as a company to guiding our consumers on how to continue reducing their carbon footprint.”

Cartridge World is the market leading retailer of refilled and remanufactured printer cartridges. Using specifically formulated inks or toners, Cartridge World stores can refill all major brands of ink and laser cartridge. The end result is a high quality product offering the customer substantial savings on the cost of an original and an environmentally-friendly alternative to throwing the cartridge into landfill.

So no Adam Jones/Gordon Shedden after all :(
