Another Honda combustion engine let go for Alonso in FP1.
Honda said it was an oil leak, everyone else seems to think there was a rather large hole in the bottom of the unit thanks to a conrod punching through it!

F1 Shame Honda have already said a new spec engine for around Monaco is needed to up the power but after testing as a McLaren fan the fact they might actually finish the race is a minor miracle!

F1 Another day, another engine change for Honda.
I wonder how difficult it would have been for Honda to get the jet ignition system working on the 2016 ICE and use that for 4/5 races till the new 2017 power unit was fully tested!

F1 It appears the final count after testing was 5 engines in 4 days for Honda.

F1 So Sky Sports now have exclusive deal with F1 from 2019 so people like me can't watch it after that other than the British GP which will be aired free. :/
I refuse to pay Sky money so what am I supposed to do now? Stream it illegally?
This is a stupid decision and will surely lower the viewing figures even more?!?
WEC/Le Mans & BTCC will be getting even more of my attention now.

F1 I understand the safety side of it but I always think most of us fans would take the risk for half the money they are paid! You can never fully get rid of the risks in Motorsport.
Still over time I'm sure we will get used to it but I personally think it looks terrible.

F1 Fair point that Gav forgot about that.
Maybe the 2nd test Spec is a baseline for the first update in the season?

F1 Oh no! Lol.
Still I hope this "proper" 2016 spec unit for the next test is true.
Although I'm under no illusions that there going to be anywhere near Mercedes/Ferrari this season.

F1 There doesn't seem to be a quote on this from Honda or McLaren so taking it as a *rumour* but word is this current power unit is a test version aka 2015 B spec and that at the second test they will use the full 2016 unit.
I hope this turns out to be true as this unit appears to have much better reliability and at least deploys properly over a long run now! So maybe they can squeeze a litt

F1 Rumours of Redbull - Honda deal now. :/
Not sure how Mclaren will take this, although could speed up Honda's development with two sets of data.

F1 Fixed it guys. Just reconnected everything and flashed the bios and it works on the GPU DVI now so must have been an error on my part somewhere. Will get windows on soon to make sure all is okay. Thanks for the help!

Yes power cable was connected, little LED light above the plug on the GPU was lit and the fans both spin when the computer is booted.
I did a google search earlier and some people cured it with a Bios update although it seems to be on older ch

Off-Topic Sorry Gav but I need some more help!
Built my new PC up over the last couple days, turned it on got the first beep then nothing on the display. Had a look card looked seated okay and checked the connections to it, still nothing.
Removed the card, booted up with display first time running on the built in CPU graphics. Had a quick look in the BIOS and the pcie 16x is default.

Off-Topic Looks like Peter Prodromou has managed to get some design influence into the Mclaren after only starting in September, note the much tighter/neater rear of the car. Im expecting a seriously different front wing configuration for testing/Australia too.
Seems very tight around the new Honda package too, I'm just hoping there somewhere near the Merc in terms of reliability and can close the

F1 My old spec was i5 @ 3.0Ghz with 8GB 1333 DDR3, Ati Radeon HD 6870 1GB and a couple of OCZ Vertex 2 SSD's with a 500GB hard drive just for data storage so im hoping i will notice a small improvement with the 840's as there Sata III vs Sata II and i belive its more about the sustained write/read than the maximum?
I've always been an ATI guy but will have a look at the Nvidia as i

Off-Topic Thanks gav will take a look at the i5, i did think speed over cores would probably be the case for more gaming. I totally forgot about how awesome intels overclock.
Ive got 8GB of DDR3 1333 from an old system i can use unless you think it will be a bottleneck at that speed?
I think the Samsung 840 will be fast enough? Also i have a 600watt OCZ PSU will i need higher for the newer GPUs?

Off-Topic Hi guys,
My PC decided to give up over Christmas so am looking to build a new gaming rig (was about 4 years old anyway).
I only really play racing games such as rFactor 1/2 and Assetto Corsa plus have recently bought a GoPro so will do the odd bit of HD video editing.
My dilemma is whether I should go for a 1150 socket combo with DDR3 memory or should I wait and save for a new Socket 20

Off-Topic Hello everyone, am hoping a few of you might be able to point me in the right direction.
I want to purchase a NAS bay (Network Attached Storage) to my home network to back up files on my PC and Laptop. Is there a feature in Windows 8 where I can back up selected files/folders when I log off? So it just checks for new or updated files and syncs them. Or is this something that only purchased sof
