Yes. That's better! I did make a full set of steering wheels once, but I think they are on my old hdd, along with several arms in different colours and a new dash for the Alfa with gold rings around the matching dials. Good to see that Alfa wheel on the track again. I always really liked that car in GP4.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Do you have ANYTHING in the pnl folder or just no .ini files? There should be LOTS of other files in there. a) If there ARE other files in the pnl folder: Go to the tools menu, select folder options, then view. Now un-tick the entry that says 'hide extensions for known file types'. Now if you had a file previously called cockpit-Alfa+Shadow. it will now look like cockpit-by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Jordhy, Are you using GPXPatch to edit the cockpit-xxx-xxx.ini file, or are you editing it directly in notepad or something? If you are editing the file directly in notepad but you are leaving GPxPatch open, I THINK (but I could be wrong), that GPxPatch will over-write it again with the old data when you close it, even if you told notepad to save before that! So, make sure you close GPXPatcby Noog - Grand Prix 4
The 79 mod I use is one I made up which uses the default game arms, so it's not a problem I have, but others will so it's good that you posted the solution. Putting dashboard, arms and stuff like that in GPxCInfo is a nice idea, but because I don't use the default screen resolution it's just too time consuming and annoying to get everything in the proper place again. So,by Noog - Grand Prix 4
@ Murilo. This occurs because you have changed the screen resolution from the 1024 x 768 default, as I mentioned earlier. To fix it: 1. Open GPxPatch and click the GPxCInfo tab 2. Double click the file called 1979\cockpit-xxx+xxx.ini. 3 In the 'Design Area' (top left), select 'Center', not 'Move to Edges' That should solve the problem. @ Saiboby Noog - Grand Prix 4
1. The game screen defaults to 1024 x 768 resolution in a new installation. Most people have a bigger monitor than that, so they make the resolution higher to make the game screen bigger (ie 1680 x 1050, or 1920 x 1080 or even larger than that). However, your screenshot suggests that you ARE using 1024 x 768 resolution, which IS the default, so what I said doesn't apply to you. 2.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
My dash does not rotate. I started with a new GP4 installation, installed the mod and did EXACTLY what I said in my post. Then I deleted it all and repeated the process again to make sure. It doesn't fix anything else, which I mentioned it wouldn't, but if you follow my instructions above it will stop the dash from rotating.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
OK. Since this mod is so frustrating, I just re-installed the mod so I could write this little guide to fix the rotating dashboard problem. It would be nice if someone could add a guide to help with some of the other problems too, but I unfortunately I just don't have the time to work on it right now. In a new installation, install the mod. Do NOT change your screen resolution yet. Leaby Noog - Grand Prix 4

My 79 mod doesn't have the problem any more, so I must have fixed it, but I don't recall how. If I had the problem today I would take a look at: //gp4tweak_data/armpos.ini See how the Ligier values compare to the others and make them something like the average. If the names are wrong in the file (ie the 2001 names), I think the Ligiers are cars 15 & 16 (trulli & schuby Noog - Grand Prix 4
I remember all those problems. It's unfortunate, but 79 is probably the most buggy mod you'll ever come across, so don't get disillusioned by it. Everything can be fixed, but it's extremely frustrating. I'd tell you how, but it was so long ago I don't remember what I did, except that after eventually fixing it after many days of trying (and then breaking it aby Noog - Grand Prix 4

I've never had a problem like this so I can only guess, but as far as I know there's only desc76 and desc77 in the magic data file that determines when the CC cars stop to change tyres in the rain. Default values seem to range from 9373 to 15453 for desc76 and 13000 to 24000 for desc77 Higher values mean change sooner, so I would use cmagic4 to extract a fresh copy of the MD fromby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Absolutely stunning stuff. Looking forward to the final mod release very much. Big thanks to all involved.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Just thought I'd add another little update. After I answered Tom's question just now I realised I still had the 2010 circuit and the MD open on screen, so I checked the MD again & noticed I'd made a typo. I corrected the error (desc75 is now -14700) and on accelerated time a few moments ago Prost took pole in 1:59.32, as compared to the calculated RW time of 1:59.11. So it lby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Thanks Lando. Thanks Tom. What happens with extreme values? I can't actually say I've tried. However, I was driving a new track (2010) in an old mod (1993) this morning and I calculated that the value in desc74 would have been about 195000 if the race had ever been held. In testing, the pole time was about 17s too quick, so I put -17000 in desc 75 (which I guess is fairlyby Noog - Grand Prix 4
I was going to leave it until the track came around again, but as a result of your last I decided to stop being lazy and get back on it. I installed the original 1991 (2007) mod into a fresh GP4 folder, installed the mod update (which I'd forgotten about), installed the v2 trackpack (which I'd also forgotten I had) and everything's working perfectly and better than ever. Hey Zaky04. I'm only just getting to grips with this "making tracks work" stuff, so I might easily lead you astray in my ignorance, but looking at your error log, towards the end, notice that it mentions collision data, then Siverstone2001.col. Silverstone2001.col is where the collision data is located and the .col is normally contained within the .wad for the track, which isby Noog - Grand Prix 4
@ René Would you mind if I asked which bit it is that tells you that? I'd like to understand those logs a bit better than I do at the moment and I've seen a similar error in the past. Thanks.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Unlikely. Linux doesn't have problems. Seriously though, I think I probably just need to make a new GP4 installation and re-construct some of the mods and the tracks from scratch for a change. I tend to compile my own track selections and move things around on a whim, rather than sticking with the originals, and I only got around to working with that particular generation of Montby Noog - Grand Prix 4
This post discusses and clarifies the use of desc=75 (laptime finetune), in the Magic Data file. For desc75, my copy of cmagic4.ini uses this hint: "laptime finetune (+/-1000 equals +/- 1.0)" To me, that always suggested two things: 1. If I want the CC cars to improve their laptimes by one second, I needed to use a value of -1000. 2. Desc75 is somehow subordinate to desc7by Noog - Grand Prix 4

I've tried them all many times (in several mods) - and all have the same tendency to crash when accelerating time in qualifying, or pressing Esc (I know that's naughty but I do it anyway), or sometimes when going into car setup. The error log is always the same, i.e. incomprehensible to me! I'm usually fairly good at fixing problems like this but whatever I do it's always theby Noog - Grand Prix 4

Hmm. I'm pretty sure this doesn't mean what you think it does. You can just ignore that button (I usually do) - or if you click it you can click ADD and put in something like name. Do this even if 'name' already shows. Then click in the field to the right and put the name of the track if you like. Should be OK now. But as I said, I don't think it matters. I'm not sure why you are using GPBuilder to do this when you don't have to. Here's how I would do what you want to do: 1. Download the MD file Auscain linked above, change the rain chance to what you want, then use CMagic to inject it into the track. 2. Now, (I think this is where you're going wrong), load the GAME, go to the game settings (OPTIONS - RACE OPTIONS), and mby Noog - Grand Prix 4
