Game Crashes to Desktop when loading track [Error log]

Posted by Zaky04
Ok, so I was loading up a track to play, and it was halfway through, but then the game crashed to desktop. I haven't had this problem before, so if anyone could give any tips as to what may have happened, I'd be extremely grateful. If I just need to search the forums, then please let me know.
If it helps, I've also got the log file for the incident.

A wad file is missing.

@ René

Would you mind if I asked which bit it is that tells you that?

I'd like to understand those logs a bit better than I do at the moment and I've seen a similar error in the past. Thanks.

Alright, I've had a look around using WadUpdater and am unsure as to which file is missing.
Hey Zaky04.

I'm only just getting to grips with this "making tracks work" stuff, so I might easily lead you astray in my ignorance, but looking at your error log, towards the end, notice that it mentions collision data, then Siverstone2001.col.

Silverstone2001.col is where the collision data is located and the .col is normally contained within the .wad for the track, which is why (I think), René says it can't find the .wad.

For my part, I've noticed that when a track can't find the .wad the crash always tends to occur almost exactly halfway during the loading process. Fortunately, this usually one of the easier problems to resolve.

OK, we know it's not finding the wad, so let's make it easier to find:

Create a new folder in the tracks folder called whatever, then copy ONLY the .dat and the .wad into it to try running it from there. At the very least it should no longer crash at the halfway point.

Give that a try and let me know what happens - and from there we can decide what to do next.

Okay, thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate the help, but unfortunately it didn't work. I have taken apart the wad to try and figure things out.
I took the crash address from the log and looked into the executable what it does there. And there I see it wants to load a file from a .wad file but the .wad file itself is not loaded. Could be a wrong track name somewhere.
