I've got a 19" Nokia monitor with these two lines and I never think about them. I can see them if the background color is uniform and I look for them, but otherwise, nope...by oyvind - Grand Prix 4
I haven't thought about that the calibration may be unaccurate. But I guess the PO -meter isn't accurate either, since the FPS changes alot during calibration if you press and hold the PO-key. If the patch fixed the sound accel. problem this is good in two ways: The sound card processor can then take care of the sound processing and the CPU will then have more power for other tasks! I think a wheel will take up quite some amount of CPU power, I use a Logitech Formula Force wheel myself. back in the old days, when using a joystick, the flight sims got much slower when hooking up my flightstick. Todays sticks/wheels are mostly USB, but even USB peripherals need CPU cycles to function. BTW: I OC'd my CPU to 1,82 Ghz (from 1,73 Ghz) to check whether the constant FPS of 3by oyvind - Grand Prix 4
That's correct Neil. On my computer, there is absolutely no difference in performance. 36 FPS with or without 4xS FSAA on the GF4-TI4600.by oyvind - Grand Prix 4
BTW: The OC'd results are with 3xS FSAA! Forgot to mention that...by oyvind - Grand Prix 4
Hi. I've checked a few things regarding performance in GP4 and I think the results are quite strange. My spec: AMD 2100+ 1 GB PC 333 DDR RAM ASUS GF4 -TI4600 (driver: 29.42) SB Audigy 80 GB 7200 WD disk (All result are with max settings in GP4) Results with hardware 3D sound acceleration: No FSAA: 4xS FSAA: 800x600 : 26FPSby oyvind - Grand Prix 4
If the PO is CPU dependent only, then a switch to lower res. should keep the PO at the same value, right? I haven't tried it, but I will. If the PO goes down when the resolution goes down, then we know that: 1) The PO meter is depending on GPU too, or that: 2) The graphics engine in GP4 is depending on CPU, to a certain extent.by oyvind - Grand Prix 4
Maybe there is a flaw in the way the PO is calculated, if both CPU and GPU are connected in this Test. How are these two valued between each other?by oyvind - Grand Prix 4
I haven't tried the sound accel. fix yet. I'll do that when I get back home from work. But does anybody know how the Po is calculated? Is it just CPU load, or is the gfx card load in there too? As I said, I only got 36 fps with everything to minimum, both in GP4 and in the drivers. And I got 26 with everything turned on. The 26 fps result is probably right, I don't think the compby oyvind - Grand Prix 4
Thanks, but I discovered something. Under the Extras folder on the cd, you can find an english version of the manual, in pdf-format. So, now I'm happy.... Morbid: I live i Norway, btw...by oyvind - Grand Prix 4
Well, as I said in another thread, I've got 26 fps recommended by the system when running everything to the max. Whether I run it with 4xS FSAA or not... And I've got a AMD 2100+, 1GB DDR RAM, GF4 -4600 and SB Audigy. Something is not right here with me.by oyvind - Grand Prix 4
Yes, especially the 4xS mode I'm using, it taking up alot of processing power. I've been testing a bit now, and I discovered something very strange: The FPS doesnt go up when I disable the 4xS FSAA mode! It still recommends 26 fps!!! Something is very strange here. When I set to minimum/disable everything in the gfx options, and set my d3d settings to lowest quality/high speed I stilby oyvind - Grand Prix 4
Hi, folks. I've been playing GP, GP2, GP3 and now, GP4. But all this time, I've had big difficulties with the different "view keys" Can someone please explain to me what the Insert/Delete Home/End PU/PD buttons actually do? I really havent't figured that out. They seem to do different things every time! The manual is in 4 languages I really don't understand, so Iby oyvind - Grand Prix 4
