Setup and magic data linked below. I did try tinkering with the magic data settings for tyre wear (both line 50 and line 72), but honestly, the base file doesn't look to be out of order. I did try an experiment, focusing on running 4 smooth laps (until I ran out of fuel), checking tyre wear after those laps, and then compared to a more aggressive driving style. Thanks to both of you for the replies. I will take a look at both these suggestions. I can say that when I was developing car setup, I did have the GPxPatch setting on that allowed me to see tyre wear and plank wear. The tyre wear didn't seem abnormally high after 6 laps or so, and plank wear was under .05. I can also say that I doubt the plank is the issue, because each time I changed tby doclawler - Grand Prix 4
Hello everyone. I am recently getting back into playing GP4, and I sat down this afternoon for a race at Bahrain which I downloaded from the database. Since I'm using 2001 cars/physics, I used TomMK's 2001 magic data for this track. Anyway, I qualified 2nd, but found during the race that after a few laps I was completely unable to set competitive times anymore. It seemed like my tyrby doclawler - Grand Prix 4
I've now seen an issue happen twice in rain races that I've saved midway through. The issue is that when the game is resumed, the track is dry. Sometimes the rain is still falling, and the track gets wet again within a few laps, but in the meantime we're driving around on wet tires on a dry track. The AI has even pitted (and my crew has called me into the pits) to change onto slby doclawler - Grand Prix 4
Atticus, do you still have copies of your Road Atlanta and Rouen files that you would be willing to share?by doclawler - Grand Prix 4
Atticus, your comment about picking out different objects to serve as braking/turn-in points was very helpful. I've used that on several of your tracks and gotten used to it, and it's even inspired me to turn off all trackside objects for other tracks as well. The game runs much smoother, and it only takes a few laps to pick up different things for landmarks. Another question forby doclawler - Grand Prix 4
Atticus, I'm having a great time driving your no-chicane versions of the original GP4 tracks. I've tried a few of your beta tracks as well, and they're great representations of the tracks but I have a hard time driving most of them due to lack of landmarks to help with brake points, and the 'track in the sky' effect distracts me at times. Are you planning to create basby doclawler - Grand Prix 4
I was finally able to get GPxPatch working in Linux. I had been using the original GP4.exe from the CD, and apparently going to the decrypted file fixed the issue of GPxPatch not recognizing GP4. It's now working. As an additional question, with 'Power and Grip Team Dependent', will that also make me as the player have a 'random' performance variable from the performby doclawler - Grand Prix 4
Yes, it is installed in the same GP4 directory (within Wine). I'm not a Linux/Wine expert, so there may be issues with the trying to use one program to 'call' another one that is related to Linux/Wine. Is there any way other than GPxPatch to modify performance files?by doclawler - Grand Prix 4
Has anyone had any success getting GPxPatch set up and running in Linux? I've managed to get GP4 working almost flawlessly using Wine, but when I load GPxPatch, it says that it is unable to find GP4.exe. Alternatively, is there another way for me to edit individual performance file parameters? Thanksby doclawler - Grand Prix 4
