i have nortonsystemworks running at the background. but it's always running and as i said, other games (including new generations) run better on my desktop with those applications running at the same time.

I think chet means what you have set rFactor to run. If you have DX9 installed, you can run DX7 and DX8 too. It depends on how rFactor is configured. Check it, by running "rF Config.exe" which is located in your rFactor folder.

the difference between them is amazing.

im currently running, well when im home dx7 at 1024 * 1024 32bit everything but shadows on max, which are on medium, no AA, AF * 8 and i get 50-100 fps, but low settings dx8 is horrible looking and horrible fps.

marcl do u have F1C? rfactor runs better than that :P

hey guys.. just a noob question, sorry about that

but rF installe Dx9 when you haven't it on your pc yet.. but, when I go to config.exe I can only choose Dx7 and 8.

Shouldn't there be a 9 too or am I confused with other things?

Oh and, I have some minor fps and speed probs too at Dx8, so I guess I should try 7. Although I hate to get my graphics lower then this :(

Your GFX card probably does not support DX9. So you cannot choose it.
