"engine wear and damage hasnt been implemented."

Are you sure? I have noticed that if you drive at full speed and then change the gear to 1st without braking you lose a lot of power.

Yes it has. Even S1 had engine damage and wear

Keep the revs low on the start (dont over-rev it) and shift when the light comes on (even if it seems early). It'll preserve the engine for alot longer

i rev the **** out of the engine at the start, dosent seem to do me any harm, S1 had damage, but S2 dosent seem to have the same effects as the S1 damamge (the popping of the exhaust when u over revved)...

If you over rev it to the point you hear some crackling noises, you lose some power. If you go mental with over reving you will certainly hear the damage more... and also notice you lose some speed and acceleration. It's a bit too lenient imo... would be nice to see damage happen more easily. But it certainly is a feature, and is noticable. I find you get more damage downshifting too quickly.

If I downshift to early I usually damage the car by hitting the wall ;)

Is there a reason why the gear up indicator seems to come on at different rpm depending on the gear your in?

I think its because thats the ideal time to change gears which is different for each gear. I think :p

But why the ideal time should be different? The motors charasteristics are always the same no matter what gear you use, therefore an ideal time to change should be same on every gear.

To some degree, changing gear earlier than the red line can be faster as the power drops off, but in LFS we are talking several thousand RPM sometimes.

The reason for this was posted on RSC but I hate trying to search that place so I'll leave it to someone else ;)

Lol, managed that a few times :|
Don't know if anyone else noticed, but the pit wall ends that are rounded are like land mines, they launch your car.

Same with the red/white barriers at the chicane at Blackwood.

The kerbs on the chicane at Blackwood are bad enough, just run a bit wide and pass the right-hand front over the inside edge of the kerb and boing... *sits upside down at other side of track*

Have you looked at the drop on that kerb thats why ;) When you do that save the replay and put forces mode on then you will see why it happens :P

Love the Simpsons UF by the way Keiran, it's on a par with Justin's work. I wish I had a better comp so I could join you guys online, as it is it can only handle one car on track in LFS without suffering major slowdown.

Zyklef, what's your spec? It might be possible to optimise it to allow for more cars.

2.6 GHz Celeron Processor, 256 MB RAM (no idea what sort) and a crappy onboard graphics chip. I should be getting a new computer soon so I'll just wait it out.
