Oh, and can we have a decision on car before I vote for a track? This will affect my choice.

yea will update the site tomorrow as I haven't had my daily helping of LFS yet ;) About the car what will I do ?? We have a draw between the UF1 and the F08 :s So should I flip a coin ?? or maybe three different people flip a coin and we take the average ? Why didn't one more person vote for either of the cars :P

i just installed the S2 alpha demo and theres a problem calibrating it with my actlabs shifter and clutch system, i have assigned the pedals and gear shifters parameters to corresponding gear numbers.

The problem is that the engine revs its tits off without the pedal being pressed, when i put the accelerator pedal down the revs drop and when i press the clutch the car starts to drive but not accelerate

any ideas?

Sounds like the pedals are switched the wrong way, I had the same thing with my Momo.
Click the "invert 0" buttons next to both of your pedal axis.

FO8 is a stupid idea. I would be very suprised if there is a close race in those.

Cheers Justin, that did the trick

pretty cool too :)

Whats the main differences in this version over the other?

And is it worth purchasing? if so what extra do you get and how much is it?

From the LFS site (easier than me trying to remember):

Some S2 features :

Further developed physics and multiplayer systems
2 new single seater racing cars (not for the faint hearted)
3 GTR racing cars of around 500 bhp (keep your hair on)
2 front wheel drive racing saloon cars
2 sports cars, one rear and one mid engine
1 1000cc front wheel drive road car (where's that corner)
Kyoto Ring, Japan - with an Oval configuration
Westhill, England - a high speed track
Aston, England - long and short configurations
8 S1 cars with graphical and physical developments
3 updated S1 tracks (Blackwood, Fern Bay, South City)
New objects added to the S1 Autocross arena
Various types of suspension with realistic motion
Support for symmetric and asymmetric setups
Tyre wear, surface and and air temperatures
48 sampling spots per tyre allowing flat spots
Simulated and visible tyre deformation
Fuel usage, pit stops, speed limits and penalties
F12 Pit instructions system to change strategy
F11 Live settings : anti roll bar and brake balance
Yellow Flag and Blue Flag warning systems
Driver changing for time-based races e.g. 24 hour
And more...

S2 costs £12 if you already have S1, or £24 if you don't. I personally think it's worth every penny, I can't really explain what makes it great, it just feels "right" for me :)

Are the graphics any better than the demo? and are the tracks better?

one thing i thought the demo could benefit from was a rumble effect on the road, the FFB feels just right when cornering but the road surface has no feel to it, driving in a straight line feels like driving on glass i.e smooth

Is there another download to complete for the £24? or does it unlock the existing game?

It should unlock the existing game and the graphics are the same as the S2 demo but a million times better than s1.

The graphics are the same as the S2 Demo. The tracks in S2 I like better, they feel more like proper race circuits.

If you downloaded S2 Alpha full (about 150mb), you can unlock it straight after buying. If you downloaded S2 Alpha demo, you'll need to download the full install.

just looked at the screenshots and it looks great, just a bit dubious about paying £24 for it :s

Like you'd expect single seaters too. Twichy and touchy under throttle

i've been looking for videos of them but not sure which ones they are [lfs-news.bluepixel.dk]

F08? at a guess? i'm downloading one at the moment to see if it looks promising

Downforce is good. Not much at low speed, alot at high speed. Alot of slipstream, dirty air is modeled (less grip behind another car etc)

FO8 is the F3000 clone.
FOX is a F Renault cline.

Any others that you'd recommend? i've read something about Formula v8, would that be the unofficial F1 one?

And is it any good

The Formula V8 is the F3000 clone, AKA the F08.

As for whether to buy it or not it depends on what you're looking for.

If you'll play more offline against the AI than online, you might want to look elsewhere, or wait for rFactor. If you do play online though, you'll get hooked instantly, as it's loads of fun, and you can really have some close racing, which isn't as easy in other sims.

This is probably the best online sim available.

Theres no unofficial F1 car. Too many people on RSC are complaining the F08 doesnt handel like an F1 cars. Thats because its not.

F08 is based around the F3000 series (NOT GP2 like some RSC members seem to think to). FOX (or Formula XR or whatever its called) is Formula Renault based
