Stephen Gately is found dead

Truly sad news. I heard about it on Radio 1 earlier, and Jo Whiley played a Boyzone song on her show as a tribute.

And yeah, I was actually a Boyzone fan first time round, and got their Greatest Hits album when it came out. Stephen's vocals on No Matter What in particular must seem poignant now.

His greatest legacy must surely be his helping to open people's minds within the music industry towards people(especially performers) who are openly gay, and showing them that it's no bad image to have.

Tragic that someone who by all accounts was a nice guy should die so young. RIP Stephen

i never was, and am not, a fan of Boyzone. they epitomise everything that is wrong with the music industry. but this is truly sad news, especially because he was only 33 years old.

I was into music in the 1990s which I wouldn't be now, and while I like my rock as a rule, my taste in music has always been eclectic as hell. To put it in context, I liked Flat Beat by Mr Oizo when that came out, purely for the novelty value.

On the subject of Boyzone, and them epitomising what's wrong with the music industry, is it any coincidence that Louis Walsh was also managing them?

Apparently Stephen Gately was on a bendor for 3 days in Majorca before he died. the bender is said to be devasted.

Michael Jackson was disapointed when Steven Gately came to heaven. He thought they said somone from the BOYS HOME was coming.

Sad to hear Stephen Gately's died so young. 33 is a rather short lifespan. Hopefully an autopsy will give a conclusive cause of death.

I think if it has anything to do with the copious amounts of alcohol he drunk previously then what could you expect? It would be sad in that he would have just wasted his life. Then that only assumes it was alcohol related.
