Done my MSc. Now F1 job hunting! People say patience and resilience pays off. So far it hasn't. I dont think Williams appreciate me spamming their HR week on week.

In the mean time work at a local co-op in Milton Keynes. But moving back to parents in a few weeks I think. Next week planning on bombarding RedBull personally begging them to employ me. They are about 20mins (at most!) down the road! However, I've accepted F1 is unlikely for 3-4 years so been looking for any junior aero/CFD positions, again with little success.

That reminds me. Anyone know what shops sell this thing called 'experience'??? Im at a complete loss! Tesco dont stock it....

Oh, that. You only get some of that stuff if your parents are really rich and know people and they give it to you on a plate. Or if you win some sort of competition that gives you some. Otherwise you can dig it out of the ground in random places but I never knew where to look.

Congratulations on the right job decision. Just had this discussion today:

Student: "Mr Vader, which country is called Taiwan?"
Me: "Taiwan, for example."
Student: "O yeah ... errr ... and what is Taiwan?"
Me: "A country."
Student: "Ahh, thank you."

I'm sorting out my teaching route now. I wanted to do it right after I graduated in Architecture, but needed to earn some money. I was offered a few jobs in architectural firms, and in the recession, it was silly not to take them. So I did, and have been here 19 months.

I half regret not going straight into teaching, as I don't really like architecture (well, the company I am in). But money rules the world at the moment, and I have just bought my first house with my girlfriend last year.

Finding a way to get classroom experience (voluntary) to assist my application for January is going to be hard, juggling a full time job and a mortgage. I think I will need to take Fridays off work for a few months.

Luckily, I want to head into Primary Years. I have been told by my local training provider that being a male in an almost exclusively female majority is a massive foot in the door, so that is a bonus. I've checked out 5 of the schools closest to me, and every one has a 100% female staff ratio. Crazy!

Funny, I think a fair few people on the GPG Forums are infact teachers/lecturers.

Damn, it's weird to think this was almost five years ago. I need to get a life outside of GPG ;)

Time for another go then I suppose.

Name: Dan Paddock
Age: 22
Location: Manchester
Sex: Male
Occupation: Journalist/Student
Favourite game/game series: To be honest, other than GP4 and Rome Total War 2, I don't actually game much anymore. I did love Bioshock: Infinite though
Favourite F1 team: Red Bull/Toro Rosso
Favourite driver: I'd probably say it's Sebastian Vettel, but I've got a lot of love for Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo too
Favourite book: It'd either be Down and out in Paris and London by George Orwell, or All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque. Also really enjoyed the A Song of Ice and Fire series.
Favourite movies: The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, The Italian Job (1969), Restrepo, Senna, Toy Story
Favourite TV series: (I thought I'd add this one in) The Newsroom, Community, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Firefly, Band of Brothers, Rome
Favourite food: I'm a big fan of Italian and Mexican food, also quite partial to a takeaway every now and again.
Favourite band(s): Daft Punk, The Who, Oasis, The Stone Roses, The Vaccines, The Courteeners, Mumford & Sons, Palma Violets, Bastille, The 1975
Favourite song(s): Both Mr Brightside by The Killers and Not Nineteen Forever by the Courteeners will always be a bit special to me as well as they bring back great memories of Uni
Favourite non computer hobby: Honestly, I just enjoying spending time with friends and family. Being an online journalist now, computers pretty much rule my life, so getting away from them is a nice break.

Never played Rome Total War, but did read All Quiet at the start of this year. What a ball breaking read. Incredibly powerful.

I had a bit of a goal to read more this year, especially the classics - I started with All Quiet, enjoyed Frankenstein and Sherlock Holmes, gave up on Alice in Wonderland (what a frustrating read!!) and am half way through For Whom the Bell Tolls.

Watership Down remains my favourite all time book though :-)

I agree Mal, there were some cracking quotes in that.

Gareth, I basically just play Rome 2 as it soaks up so much time. Good fun as well, and I've been a big fan of the Total War series over the years, stretching way back to the original Medieval Total War.

I've got Catch 22 and The Boys From Brazil still both to read. Another of my favourites which I forgot to mention is The Motorcycle Diaries by Ernesto 'Che' Guevara.
