The prices aren't going to go down... they've been the same prices as XP are (if you take Home Premium as XP MCE and Business as XP Pro).

Strangely enough, iTunes under Vista for me was crashing all the time, couple of weeks later it works absolutely fine.

By "works absolutely fine" you of course mean "takes 30s to load, plays only two different file types, and may crash on close", right?

Nope, plays everything I chuck at it, takes 5 seconds to load at the most and never crashes on close, it did before though.

So, how about those wma/v files?

I don't have wma files to chuck at it. Don't really want to either.

5 seconds in Vista? Thats still crap dude. Photoshop CS2 opens in under 5 seconds here and thats far more extensive than iTunes, all thanks to Vistas preloading.

If Vista cant get iTunes to load faster than that, it kinda shows how bad iTunes is.

iTunes not working would be considered a good feature of any OS.

i've had vista since i got my laptop 3 months ago, its fine, only jsut worked out UAC yesterday :P:P i know i'm a nub.

the only thing i don't like vista is the fact that many programs requires you to have administrator priveliges, which is annoying, as that yellow box always appears asking you if you will let the program execute, when you've already gave it priveliges.
Anyone got a fix for this?

i find its runs smooothly on my 2gig of ram :D

So Dave doesn't get disappointed with me telling you how to do this :), I'll give you some general pointers. You can make your user account into an administrator account which will solve that.

Regarding UAC, it's probably better to tweak it to your liking (ie, disabling various parts of it) rather than just disabling it altogether. If you're the sort of guy who just disables it because it bugs you, then you clearly don't know what it's for, and should certainly be leaving it on. It's not just a pop-up for asking n00bs whether they want to delete a shortcut, there's a lot of system-level protection that even enthusiasts have no control over.

I've never used it myself, but TweakUAC should give you more control. Personally, I just turn off UAC, install and customise a system, and then turn it back on again.

Bear in mind that GPL doesn't work with UAC on, as Ian discovered on the VT forums.

Nope. Although to be fair, I did give it a proper chance. I heard all the bashings and the good sides and decided to try it. Worst that could happen is its crap. Installed it, it crashed on first start (despite the PC being fresh and having no problems at all) and then didnt have any music I was interested in. It crashed again when i closed it. Awesome application.

Papyrus games dont. Nr2003 throws up the same error with UAC for alot of people.

Remove it from the startup folder in the Start menu. If its not there

Start - run - msconfig - startup tab - find wmplayer and remove it. Dont touch anything else. Apply, Ok, reboot. If it comes up with a box saying selective start allow it to do that.

ok, that's odd, WMP isn't in the startup folder and also isn't in the startup list on msconfig. I may have an idea though... will report back later
