One thing that REALLY bothers me about the 1:18 models are the fuel caps from the 1990's models. They look awful with just a decal.

I've been contemplating and researching the cost to have a custom metal cap with all the nuts and screw indents made. Maybe with some light fine dremel work or a pilot hole smaller than the decal so the cap partially sits inside the hole you drill (like the real cap indent) and the outer edge 'covers' what is there of the existing decal. I can get the overlap bit razor thin from the CNC machine when it is made, but you could also manually sand the thickness from behind.

Not totally accurate, but it would look a LOT better than what is already there (looks terrible!).

I could have it made for £4-£5 a piece, cast metal.

What do you guys think?

I found this, should I jump on it? C13 from 1994's Canadian GP.

Nice fuel cap idea, Dan, is it going to fit ok considering the curvature of the engine cover?

New case. The 99 Hakkinen has since been converted to the full tobacco livery :)

That looks like a great deal Gui

I'd love a Minichamps C12 in 1/18 scale

I'm just wondering if anyone has a 1999 Sauber, driven by Alesi in 1/43 that they would be willing to part company with

There are some Alesi Saubers on eBay, both 98 & 99, even the x-wing version.

That's a nice collection - I love that Alonso R26 from Silverstone, I've been looking for a replacement for my ordinary Team Spirit version

That's a very poor representation of Massa's 2007 helmet!

@schueyfan: Yes, I don't know why the hotwheels models have good bodies but poor helmets...

Ed it's due to the non tobacco laws

That year was especially bad as they didn't even put the white band around the top of the helmet as it could be classified as Marlboro

SatLab you should look on ebay at some decals to add the full livery

Strange, because I have a 1991 Mansell Williams-Renault with the Camel drawing (not the word "Camel";), and at the same time a 1994 Hill's FW16 with the word "Williams" instead of "Racing" or the typical barcode. I've been trying to convert those and my three Ferraris (90, 96, 97) but decals are almost impossible to get.

Decals for all of those are easy to obtain! Just pricey! ;)

9 hours to go on the De Cesaris 200th GP 1:18 model, we'll see if anyone else will outbid my maximum bid. I like the 94 Sauber and while I'm not too keen on that specific livery, it's one of the cheapest auctions going ;).

I'd better get on there and out bid you out of spite then ;-)

I've now taken delivery of all my 1:18s, now I've ran out of decent display room.

I'm putting my foot down, too many good models, too tempting.

My 1:18 collection is only going to be models of First Driver Wins only!

On the lookout now to modify a 97 Williams Frentzen and a 96 Villeneuve.

I found a few Alesi 412's but my god, a lot of money :(

And I lost Hakkinen's 1st win and De Cesaris 200th GP, both due to me being asleep and Hakkinen's I only lost by 50 cents. Screw thee, e-Bay.

I was just pipped to a 1/43 1998 Sauber :(

Never mind, got a few more bids on the go. The beauty of student loan :)

No luck for me, too. I lost a Schumacher B194 Japan GP and a 1992 Patrese Williams, both 1:43.

If I was still employed I'd go for some cars I adore, especially Group C, but reality means I must not pay $40 or more for these models including shipping :(.
