One thing that REALLY bothers me about the 1:18 models are the fuel caps from the 1990's models. They look awful with just a decal.
I've been contemplating and researching the cost to have a custom metal cap with all the nuts and screw indents made. Maybe with some light fine dremel work or a pilot hole smaller than the decal so the cap partially sits inside the hole you drill (like the real cap indent) and the outer edge 'covers' what is there of the existing decal. I can get the overlap bit razor thin from the CNC machine when it is made, but you could also manually sand the thickness from behind.
Not totally accurate, but it would look a LOT better than what is already there (looks terrible!).
I could have it made for £4-£5 a piece, cast metal.
What do you guys think?
