Yup. Your using an illegal version. Stop using it and buy it and it will solve the problem. And no, im not joking, the crack is designed exactly to do that

Is Vista any good?

I was thoroughly disappointed by the Beta 2. There's virtually nothing new. IE 7 has the same html interpretation problems as its predeccessors (sp), and still has no new way of dealing with activeX controls.

Nothing new in Paint or Notepad. Install took 7Gb off my hard drive, took 3 hours to install properly. Has some nice transparency and GPU rendering of windows when thye aren't open, but to be honest, KDE has been able to do that in Linux for a while :)

It does make me wonder what Microsoft have been doing over the last 5 years - they have very little to show for their work. They do say a lot of the work is under the surface, in moving to a more kernel-based system, and focusimng more on security, Trouble is, their way of giving more security is by a very irritating 'are you sure?' to just about everything. Almost every click, you have to tell it yes, you really do want to do what you're doing.

As you'd expect, product activation is mandatory (14 days). I'm not planning on buying it when it comes out, it's a waste of money in my book.

Oh, and it didn't recognise my onboard sound card, which is the same chip as what comes on most, and I couldn't find where to change the screen resolution :(

Paint will be updated too (maybe not in BETA2, but sometime)

Paint.net has been developed by an opensource project, and will be ported into Vista apparently. It's pretty nifty according to Dave E who's been playing with it. Much, much improved over the Paint we've all come to know and hate.

Paint.net is pretty funky. Its by no means a photoshop or PSP alternative, but once you've learnt a bit about it, its excellent. Very fast and easy to use, and comes with the standard funky vista transparent fading stuff, so it looks the part too.

You're aiming to go sub-8 in the BRM?! You realise Matt, Kev and I are only just on the right side of 8 in the Lotus, right? And with all due respect, you're as fast as our rank times (you are however faster than me at the moment ;)). Getting to sub-8 was like nothing undertaken before for me. I had to prepare for over an hour before hand, just to get sub-8... I know for a fact I couldn't get below 8:05 in the BRM, no matter what my form.

This is the way I see it: I did my quickest times (8:05 and 8:06 in the Eagle and Ferrari respectively) about a year ago. I've obviosly improved a lot since then, and I'm actually almost on par with my old laptimes from the past in the BRM right now. I'm not saying this is going to be easy, far from it, but I know the potential is there and I'm going to give it a bloody good try :)
