GPGSL Gold Coast Grand Prix, Surfers Paradise

Testers' Feature Race

The cars line up for this 22 lap race with Ricardo van Smirren on pole in the Scuderia Minardi.

Off the grid and Paddock edges in front of van Smirren and Legge passes de Boer.

Through the first chicane and de Boer is passed by Kederer and Gilson.

Paddock leads from Legge, van Smirren, Kederer, Gilson and de Boer.

Davies, having messed up his setup in qualifying is struggling near the back.

Mertz in trouble at the chicane.

And spins!

Gilson in 2nd.

Paddock steadily pulling away from the pack as he sets fastest lap.

Two laps down.

van Smirren is now getting a bit of queue forming behind him.

Nice pretty picture of Nathan :)

Ingers goes for 7th from Rangelov.

Takes the place.

Stoddart spins at the Mertz chicane.

He's gonna have to wait for everyone to pass before he can recover.

Kederer takes the fastest lap.

Gilson takes the fastest lap.

Quite a queue forming behind Rangelov.

Stoddart locks up.

McGregor hits the wall and loses his left front!

It says Stokel on the car, but thats definitely McGregor.

Christian Dux right behind Ingers, after the latter nearly hit a wall.

Dux tags Ingers and forces him way too wide!

Oh no, Dux has shoved the test champion into the wall, a new front wing needed!

Scala and Stokel bumping through the Stoddart chicane.

Scala hits his team mate Muller into the wall.

Muller is out!

Van Smirren goes for 2nd.

Legge takes to the kerb and van Smirren runs wide to try to avoid an incident.

But Rico hits the wall and is out!

12 laps to go.

Pitstops begin.

Paddock pits.

Leaving Legge to lead.

Legge only lead for one lap as he too pits.

Paddock is untouchable in this race as he retakes the lead.

Legge looks off line entering the Scala chicane.

Yep he's lost it.

No, he hits the wall and takes out Gilson too.

Dunlop and Bridgestone wheels litter the track.

Due to incidents ahead of him, de Boer now sits in 3rd.

Paddock takes fastest lap.

Kederer takes fastest lap.

5 laps to go.

Stoddart takes Mertz the hard way.

Last lap and Kederer is over 13 seconds behind Paddock.

Paddock on his way to an easy win.

Congratulations Dan Paddock, Martini Paddock Racing.

Official results coming soon.

WHOOHOOO! Great performance again by the boss. 2 wins after 2 races, that's incredible! And it looked so easy. Charrel and I will definitely have to fight harder in the main series, but Dan's performance shows that the car is competitive! That is definitely a good sign. Now Charrel and I will both be in the need to bring home points, but this track is so incredibly small at some places, you've seen it. One little mistake and you're in the wall, especially when you're fighting with someone. That'll be a hard fight.

Due to brain fade on my part, I didn't get a screenshot of the race result. Fortunately, I have gpxpatch running text logging and was able to extrapolate the results from the log file. (Stu)

Race was going great, until Jake hit me:-(. Points down the drain. Oh well, onto Suzuka.

First things first, well done to gary on a points finish in his debut grand prix, well done!
On my own performance... im glad i managed to keep out of trouble, gain a few places in pitstops and accidents, but still have the speed to get myself up into 10th place after a poor qualifying. I must now have scored my record season total for points, in only 2 races so far! ;)

Good luck to the races guys for pushing the car to even further heights on this track :)

Delighted with a points finish in my first outing! I knew it would be important to keep out of trouble and bring the car home, and I'm very happy that I managed it. The car was great to drive, and I'm looking forward to the next race!

no points for me and also the consciousness that I brought Juliano out of the race. What a bad race for us...

My GPGSL Career
Poor Jake is the unluckiest driver so far this season. Two outstanding performances ended up in tears. Don't worry mate, Suzuka will treat you well.

As for Mr. Stefan, he was brilliant with that 4th. Valuable points for him.

Judging from their pace, Rodrigo and I should have better races here.

Stats: 139 Starts / 7 Wins / 9 Poles / 5 Fastest laps
Strange how I fell from 7th to 11th. I don't want to blame our mechanics, but it is second race in a row that I lost some positions. Next time I'll have a penalty, so I'm not very optimistic about it, too...
