German Grand Prix Race Broadcast

Hello and welcome to Hockenheim and the 2005 Formula One German Grand Prix. In yesterdays qualifying session Sauber driver Nick Heidfeld took a surprise pole position ahead of Felipe Massa in the Ferrari. Can Massa make it two wins in a row or will Nick Heidfeld win for the first time? Could someone else cause a surprise? Lets find out!

The red lights are on

Heidfeld leads us away

Poor start for Button but what a start by Villeneuve! He's up 5 places

Michael Schumacher is having a look at Massa who dropped to 3rd in the first corner

He didn't make it and now he's under pressure from Coulthard

David Coulthard is facing the wrong way

And has caused mayhem on the track

Alonso is through into 4th

Rosberg 5th

Schuamcher is 6th

Button 7th

And Villeneuve is in 8th just ahead of Coulthard

Villeneuve is overtaken by Coulthard and Vettel off camera and now he's hit the back of the Mclaren

He's airborn

And out of the race

Alonso is wide at the first turn

He spins and narrowly avoids collecting Schumacher

Oh look! Robert Kubica is copying him.

Kubica rejoins in 20th

Just ahead of Alonso, who is last

Glock outbrakes himself

And runs into the side of Lotterer

This causes Lotterer to spin

He's hit by Klien in the Minardi

Lotterer will have to pit

Klien is out of the race

Glock is out via suspension failure

Vettel is looking to make his way through into 7th

Sato spins in the 1st corner

Here's the current top 8

Barrichello is all over Heidfeld!

And the Renault driver takes the lead

4 laps later, Massa takes second from Heidfeld

Barrichello undoes all his hard work by running wide in turn 1 and spinning

He rejoins in 4th ahead of Rosberg

Coulthard has run wide in turn one too!

He's now in 12th

Fisichella has a problem

And it's terminal

Schumacher looks to pass Heidfeld

Not this time though

The German is the first to come in. That's a definite 3 stopper.

Barrichello spins again!

He's down to 4th

Not for long though, Massa is out with an Engine problem

Vettel is putting Button under pressure

And the Brit runs wide

He's now down in 6th

Make that 7th!

Here's the top 8

An engine problem ends Ralf Schumacher's race as Heidfeld pits

Barrichello is also in

Heidfeld rejoins in 6th, just ahead of traffic

Michael Schumacher goes down the inside of Button

Rosberg pits

He's back out ahead of Heidfeld and Barrichello! Great stuff from Mclaren

The current standings

Disaster for Heidfeld. He's in the gravel.

Schuamcher pits

Heidfeld rejoins in 14th. That's ruined his chance of some points

Zonta runs wide at turn 1

Button is under the cosh from Alonso

And spins his way through turn 1

He only loses 1 place

Lotterer becomes the latest retirement

Ok own up! Who put oil on Renault's tyres?

Coulthard rejoins in 15th

Raikkonen passes Kubica down the inside

Race leader Rosberg pits

And he retains the lead as Vettel sets a new fastest lap

He's all over Barrichello

Barrichello responds with a fastest lap of his own

Feeling left out, race leader Rosberg puts in a new fastest time

But Barrichello beats it!

Here's the order of those still in the race

Another fastest lap for Barrichello

Schuamcher looks to pass Davidson

oh no! He's spun it

Da Matta is through

So is Alonso

Michael will still get 1 point

Rosberg wins the German grand prix!!! He'll be delighted to win his home race

Barrichello is second

Vettel is third

Full results to follow

DOTD: Mclaren's Nico Rosberg produced a faultless drive to capture his first F1 win so it has got to be him. A major contender was Anthony Davidson who did brilliantly to get the Minardi into 5th.

Renault

It's nice to see the end of the reliability problems. Could have had the race win if our tyres hadn't been tampered with :p.
Very bad race, unfortunate for Felipe to DNF, he showed some good pace.
Fernando was doing very well too today! Too bad he needed to get into the end of the field at the beginning of the race!

If you are racing, keep on racing and get some points!

Glock retires again which is a shame. Zonta a decent drive until he spun it. Still more work needs to be done to make us faster.
Good to pick up some decent points.

Disappointing result, André's race was destroyed early by Glock, and Kimi seemed to be involved in one of the incidents somehow, as he suddenly had dropped back a couple of places.

Btw, there's a small mistake in the Constructurs table, points of this round were counted twice.

So they were! My bad. I'll get on that now

Yes Anthony! 5th place is an excellent return.

Shame Christian got tangled up early on in the race, though.

I just hope this year finishes, and pronto!!! Horrible performance by both drivers, now i am convince its not the car, is who is driving it.
Mclaren Mercedes

Absolutely fantastic result for us. Couldn't have asked for anything more from the buys. It's about time we didn't have a DNF and we got a race win. Hopefully we can kick on now and win more. We can confirm that we have offered Sebastian a new 3 year deal in the Driver 1 seat.

Vettel Snubs McLaren to Join Red Bull
Shortly after completing a double podium finish for McLaren at the German Grand Prix it was confirmed by Sebastian Vettel's management that the young German had rejected a extension to his current contract at McLaren, in order to join his current team mate Nico Rosberg at Red Bull on a shorter two year deal. They also confirmed that Vettel had received numerous offers from teams up and down the grid and that the deal will come to a total of around £17.5m.

Da Matta Extends Stay at Toyota
Whilst Sebastian Vettel was busy moving teams, Cristiano Da Matta today announced that he would not be after confirming that he had signed a two year extension to his current deal which will see him stay at Toyota until the end of 2007. Da Matta has been a prominent figure for Toyota since joining forces with them in 2003, rewarding their belief in him with their only victories to date a the 2004 San Marino Grand Prix and this year in Barcelona. The deal is reported to worth around £15m.

Also, after the Hungarian GP (Also I can't remember if anyone had offered to run this race?) there is the next of the mid-season tests this time at Silverstone so I'll be sending out the ranking pms over the next few hours.

Can I change Renault to using Brembo brakes for 2006?
Twigster, what's happening with bids for GP2 drivers? I sent you one and nothing has become of it yet.

Can we just add all of the GP2 drivers to the current driver listings, and deal with the actual series later?

Good point, I'd actually forgotten about this. However we do have a slight problem as we only have the contract details of 6 of the drivers so I'll add the drivers we have to the available drivers after the next race. I still have your original bid by the way.

If you're up for it yeah :) I'll quickly updated the mod to fix the Minardi error and send it over :)
