Nooooooooooo!!! You Can Not Be Serious. We were so close to getting points :(

Oh well we will take the positives from this race.
Toyota Statement

Another good day by our guys with cristiano finishing 4th an JV driving well until being punted off by rubens it what was for a vastly experienced driver a rookie error!!..We at toyota are worried buy the super pace jaguer are showing at the moment, closing on us for 3rd in the constructers,so we need to work hard to get back ahead :)
BAR
I see an improvement from both drivers.
Villenueve Fastest in Italian Free Practice
Jacques Villenueve topped the time sheets in Friday Free Practice session ahead of the Italian Grand Prix after pulling out a stonker of a lap to pip Sauber's Nick Heidfeld to the top spot, meanwhile Michael Schumacher posted the third fastest time. Further down the field Williams look to be struggling after only managing 8th and 11th which will no doubt concern Rubens Barrichello who has had his lead cut to just 8 points after two pointless outings in Hungary and Belgium, whilst Jarno Trulli continues to punch above his weight in 15th.

Williams Lock Out Front Row at Monza
Concerns over Williams lack of pace going into qualifying were well and truly thrown out the window after Juan Pablo Montoya and Rubens Barrichello locked out the front row for tomorrows race with two superb laps, meanwhile Heidfeld pace from Free Practice carried over to qualifying after putting his Sauber third. Other notable results came from Timo Glock who will start the race from 6th and Jarno Trulli will start 12th. However both Villenueve and Schumacher struggled after there strong performances in Free Practice with the pair qualifying 8th and 9th respectively.

Italian GP Race Broadcast
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Italian Grand Prix from the Monza Circuit. Yesterdays’ qualifying session saw Williams lock out the front row with Juan Pablo Montoya edging out his team mate to pole position and no there is no doubt that the team will be looking to for some good points here after two poor outings in the previous two races. Anyway the cars are on the grid and they are ready to go…

And we are away but Montoya looks sluggish off the line…

Which allows Barrichello to move into the lead, that’ll no doubt worry Schumacher

And Da Matta has also made an excellent start and is up to 3rd from 5th

Webber meanwhile has had a poor start as Villenueve demotes him to 7th round turn 2

And Da Matta start has gotten even better as he overtakes Montoya off camera for 2nd

Schumacher has dropped several places in the first lap

And he drops another as Trulli overtakes him for 10th

Webber has missed his braking point in turn 1 and goes too deep into the chicane

And that mistake allows Lotterer to move into 6th

Further down the field there is contact when Button runs into the back of Davidson

Which in turn comprises Wirdheim as the Minardi spins across his nose

Davidson rejoins in last place

Zonta having a look at his team mate going into turn 7…

But they touch! Both drivers spin!

Zonta can continue

But Trulli is beached in the gravel, his race is over

And just a few corners later the two Renaults have come together!!!

The replay shows Coulthard lining up an overtake on his team mate in Parabolica

But Fisichella doesn’t see him and turns in on his teammate sending the pair into the barrier

Both drivers are out on the spot

And now Verstappen is wide on the exit of Parabolica

Which gifts Glock 6th place

But a lap later Glock makes the exact same mistake to give the position back

But Webber and…

…and Schumacher go through as well

Heidfeld is defending hard from Lotterer on the approach to the second chicane

Not this time

But Lotterer is coming again into turn 7…

And the pair make contact!

Heidfeld can carry on but Lotterer is sat directly on the racing line…

Which leaves Webber nowhere to go

And they both pit at the end of lap for new front wings

Meanwhile Webbers’ teammate, McNish, is challenging Schumacher for 7th

And he takes the position

And things get even worse for Schumacher a few corners later after he touches the grass and spins the car!

He is pretty much last now with only Webber and Lotterer behind him

And this doesn’t look good for Heidfeld, suspension failure spells the end for him

Meanwhile Leinders has had a great race so far and finds himself in 7th place

Davidson and Button are side by side going down the main straight

And Davidson takes the position

But his teammate is well off the track…

…and he slams into the barrier!

De La Rosa had been running in 9th at the time but he just got too wide in turn 4

Schumacher is making his comeback through the field…

And he easily takes 14th from Zonta

Barrichello sets a new fastest lap but he is currently struggling to shake off Da Matta

Villenueve is off in turn 7

But Button is too far back to capitalize

Now with ten laps down it’s time for some standings

Da Matta sets the fastest lap now, could he be an outside shot for victory today.

McNish is the first to pit

And he is quickly followed in by Leinders

Button’s off the road at turn 7

But he holds position

Glock is running very well up in 5th place

Barrichello and Da Matta are now in the pits

And Barrichello holds position

But Montoya is into the lead and looks to be one stopping

Zonta is side by side with Webber on the approach to Parabolica

But he not only overtakes Webber, but Davidson as well, a very smooth move there

But now it is Webbers’ turn…

And he’s through as well

Verstappen is now in the pits

He rejoins 8th

Meanwhile Sato on a one stop strategy is up to 5th

Villenueve is fighting with Raikkonen over sixth

And the Canadian gains the position

Verstappen locks his brakes going into turn 3

Which allows Webber to take 10th from the Dutchman a few corners later

That does not look good…

And an engine failure forces Wirdheim to retire

And with 28 to go here are the current standings

Montoya is now in the pitlane as the one stoppers start to make their stops

Which allows Barrichello and Da Matta back through, although seeing as they both have to stop again

Schumacher is also one stopping as he pits from 6th

He’s back out in 9th

Villenueve pits from 4th

And he rejoins 7th, looks like it will be a good day for Toyota

Raikkonen has also just been in the pitlane

And he rejoins just ahead of a fast approaching Sato

And Sato runs into the back of the Jordan

Both survive without damage but the incident allows Webber back through

And now with all the one stoppers having made their stops here are the current standings

Verstappen is looking to get past Glock for 4th

And he outbreaks the young German going into turn 3

And now Glock is under pressure from McNish

But he buckles under the pressure and runs into the gravel

Barrichello and Da Matta are into the pitlane again

Which puts Montoya back into the lead, can he hold onto it until the end?

Meanwhile Barrichello holds onto second again

Leinders is running well in 9th place

Make that 10th

Schumi runs wide in turn 4

But he keeps it on the road

But Leinders’ now has him in his sights

Button is under pressure from Zonta in the sole remaining Arrows

And the Brazilian takes the position

With just 15 the top three are separated by just 5 seconds, this could be a close finish

Meanwhile McNish is into the pitlane for the final time

Which promotes Glock into 4th, that would be an excellent result for the young German

Lotterer is caught drifting round the final corner although it doesn’t really cost him anything

McNish is looking for a way past Verstappen with his fresher tyres…

And that’s an excellent move

Montoya has a three second gap to Barrichello with just two to go, surely this is his race to lose now

And they have now started the final lap

And unsurprisingly Montoya has a big enough of a gap back to his team mate as he enters the Parabolica for the final time…

…and Montoya wins the Italian Grand Prix!!!

Barrichello takes 2nd to make it a Williams 1-2

Whilst Da Matta completes the podium

And Timo Glock holds on for 4th

Raikkonen Resigns at Jordan
Kimi Raikkonen surprised the F1 paddock today after announcing that he had signed on for another year at Jordan. The talented Finn who has no chance of retaining his world title this year signed on at Jordan after being dropped by Renault at the beginning of the season and was in danger of not even competing in this years championship. However Raikkonen chose to show his thanks to the team by staying another year when he signed a £17.5m contract, even though he received interest from other teams including his previous employers McLaren.

Montoya Moves to McLaren
After being left without a race seat at Williams next season following the signings of Jacques Villenueve and Michael Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoya looked as though he might struggle to stay in Formula One for another year. However today it has been revealed that he has signed an £18m contract to drive at McLaren Mercedes next season, although surprisingly he did not receive any other offers.

2005 Signings Thread

Also as we are getting close to completing the driver lineups for next season we just have three teams left who need drivers, I thought that I would post what they still needed as I don't think I've received any offers from them for a while so:

Teams Missing Drivers
Toyota - 2nd Driver, Test Driver

Bjorn Wirdheim will be our test driver

My GPGSL Career
Ah yeah, I must have forgotten to update the lineups when you signed him. It has been corrected now :)

EDIT: I have also now been informed that Kovalainen will be testing for Sauber so that means that Toyota are the only team who still need drivers.
