It's probarly a sabotaging attempt by Paolo.

Things were looking good at the start of the session but ultimatley there was not much more to extract from the car. The number of boosts being used this weekend was always going to be a problem. Hopefully Nick can clinch the title thus weekend and we can have a little party!
It gets worse here everyday...for my testing season 5;)

Oh, nice, I'll be at least 20th then ...

GPGSL Turkish Grand Prix

Qualifying

You rejoin us here in Istanbul for the all important qualifying session for the penultimate round of season 5 of the GPGSL.
Rain started fall just before the session started and seems to have wet the track enough for the teams to fit intermediates. Let's see if conditions improve enough to swap to slicks.

Silvestre for Tafuro Grand Prix is first to exit the pitlane and set a time.

Dean Kittleson is 2nd, but nearly half a second down.

Playboy Matt Houston is 3rd.

Blue Flame's team boost is put to good use by Hinz to take provisional pole.

Championship leader van der Voort slots into 3rd.

McGregor makes it two Blue Flames in the top 5.

Nice lap by Norbert Horváth to take 1st.

First runs done.

Testing champ Johnson up to 11th despite the worsening conditions.

Jethro Walters improves to 17th.

Warrington manages a better time for 12th.

Aleksander improves by two places.

Greenhalgh moves up behind him. TSS in 18th and 19th!

Jalving throws the wooden spoon out the cockpit for Karjalainen to catch.

Second runs over.

Aleksander manages to get a little more speed from his Shadow.

Houston has an off coming out the pits for his third run.

Less than twenty minutes to go.

Fast times are becoming hard to find.

Johnson spins.

The rain is getting much worse now. Teams have now switched to wets.

Maverick has just had a particularly bad lap.

Stay tuned for official results.

I'll say it again, surrender Marko!
A very mixed up starting grid. It was more or less settled after the first runs, and the earlier you went out, the better it was. Should be a good race though :)

5 x WCC - S5, S6, S7, S8, S10 | 4 x WDC - S5 Nick van der Voort ; S6, S7, S8 Ed Greenhalgh | 2 x WTC - S6 Stuart Ingers; S8 Andrei Sevastian
With both cars in points positions (and only one AMR and one TSS car in there with us), we have an opportunity to lengthen the gap in the constructor's race. :)

Nice to see myself in 5th too - after some of the awful qualifying sessions that I've had recently, it's nice to be back at the top of the order.

A special note to the qualifying 'podium' - well done! First pole for True North this season, and I'm sure neither Tafuro or Blue Flame have been that high up the order in their lives. ;) Don't get vertigo lads :)

John Maverick press statement after the Istanbul qualifying

I'm satisfied with this 8th place. We were out a little late in the first stint, otherwise it might have been a little better. But we showed strong race performances in the last races and this convinces me that we will be able to fight for some more points. Of course I'll have to take enormous care of Marko [Alexander] behind me. He is one of the fastest drivers in the grid and he's fighting for the championship. I simply hope that he won't take me as a target.
