Aston Martin Racing Announcement

As already mentioned a couple of pages ago, Aston Martin Racing are set to join the GPGSL. We aim to buy out one of the teams leaving the series and also keep the current drivers. According to the new rules Stuart Ingers will be stepping down to the test series, hopefully with Aston Martin Racing, but if all the seats of the team we acquire are taken, then Stuart will be applying to other teams for a testing role.

We are hoping to secure our entry as soon as possible so as to sort out the drivers contracts and build a strong and competitive team.

More later.

I don't think you're even allowed to do that....could someone clarify that?

Read the new rules and it'll get clear.
Quote from the new rules:
> As of Season 5, team bosses will no longer be allowed to race. They, however, can still test for any team they want.

ItalianEnglish Dynamics Press Release

MONZA - With the increasing speculation, there is no real surprise that IED will be staying on for season 5. To make it clear, I have no intention at all of leaving the series at the moment. Everything is fine and we are happy with the current rules that are being put in place. For sure, it is all a bit messy, but in the long run all these ideas would have had to be done eventually. Now is better than never.

First off, we are sad to announce that Rick Groeneboer, who has driven for the team in the last four seasons, will leave the team at the end of the season. Rick, who is a two time race winner at the team, has been through a lot of highs and lows at the team and has been one of a very few select drivers who have remained at the same team throughout their career. Its disapointing for this to end.

However, to replace Rick, we feel that we have signed an excellent driver. He may never have actually raced a car, but you don't lead the Test Drivers Championship for nothing. So, to partner Jethro Walters at ItalianEnglish next season will be Zsigmond Somogyi. He has this to say

"I'm happy to get a race driver seat in the league. My car will be one of the best car in the league. The journey was long to there. My career started in the second season as a test driver for Phoenix Racing. But my finest year was in the Team Shadow in Season 4. Without this team this day havent been able to be. Thanks! I also want to thank to ItalianEnglish Dynamics and Ryan that they choose me."

Bringing Zsigmond into the team means the team will not be keeping on Keeley Grant. Keeley has had an excellent season for us but I feel a new approach for season 5 is the best option. No decision has yet been made about Florian. So for the moment, both test seats are open.

Onto none driver related matters. After three seasons using the Maserati engines, the team have decided to move on. From Season 5, Bentley will be supplying the engines. Additionally, the team have brought in Italian drinks company Forst to replace Lukoil.

Thats the plans for season 5, and if anyone fancies painting our car, give me a call (or a PM)

This is what I get for not reading things properly. Cheers John.
May I correct you on a piece of your fine story Ryan? :)

"He may never have actually raced a car"

When Byron stepped in with DFR, Somogyi actually drove 7 races, of which he finished 3 in the points (4th, 7th and 6th place in a row)

Congratz to Zsigmond btw I'm extremely happy to see him get a deserved place as a race driver.

It would be nice to be a full-time race-driver next season. So, when you need someone for a race-seat, contact me. :-)

Very interesting driver swaps.

BTW, are the perfs of S4 kept for S5, no reset or something like that?

My Grand Prix 4 Files

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?
There'll be deductions, like every year. The deduction will be a certain percentage of the difference between the current perf and the base perf IIRC. It's all complicated and it is all explained in the rules. It's so complicated however that I can't even totally figure it out myself, maybe you can give it a try though :P
Man...thats is quite sad.
I Loved to work with DFR, it was just a great experience.
I will never forget the team in boxes, just great workers, always teaching and ready to learn to...
Thanks for the Boss, for the opportunit. Copeman, just a pleasure race with you!!

But know, unffortunatle i'm with no seat to race...

If anyone wants to lookout for my services, please pm me....
The points, is just what i could do if my car...

cheers...
woo i have a seat :) Thanks very much to team shadow. I hope i can help the team push for the title next year in my role as tester
Testers that currently drive for a team that has announced it is for sale have not lost their seats, they will still drive for the new team for S5 as drivers are transferred with the team for one season. At the end of the day, there might only be a few test seat vacancies, and they will be filled by race drivers until they are taken by new people joining or by team owners. Right now I think there are two or three test seat vacancies.

Yes, the way I see it no-one 'lost' their seat at the moment. Also since there are not more then 44 people looking for a drive, everyone will be able to participate in S5 who is already here. You can off course search for another, maybe in your eyes, better seat.
