No one has left at all. What a ridiculous statement to say that it's the end of the GPGSL! What's happened is racers wanting to continue racing instead of owning a team, therefore they are selling their teams. Having different teams is not losing people and it certainly is not the end of the GPGSL. What we have now for S5 is an injection of new teams, we will see some driver changes, and that should be test drivers drafted into race seats, and that's exactly what everyone would like to see, a change in the grid and testers getting a chance to race. What's happened is what we expected, only we didn't expect the announcements to come so quickly, as we still have four races to run in S4. We will also see the team wait list reduced as those on the list now have to make a choice between owning a team and racing, particularly if they already have a race seat.
I suggest if you are on the list, you had better have your cars painted, you might just move up the list quickly as we find out who still wants a team.

Just depends on whether those drivers want to retire their racing career. Mal (Stoddart) and Maikel (De Boer) have admitted that they're doing just that.

We just need to get word from Stuart (Ingers), Rodrigo (Vilela) and Stefan (van Renselaar).

Are we using the same shape as this season? (The SMD-ZG01)
Yes, there have been no discussions with MDB Motorsports on upgrading the chassis, I think there are two shapes you can choose from, two tyre choices and the helmet shape was voted as no change for S5.
S5 Cars are not due till after the GPGSL releases the official team and driver line up with numbers. We will announce a livery deadline, probably a few days before the expected start of S5 and after that you get the car of shame if your livery is not up to date. :-) A quick turnaround from S4 to S5 would be good and we're looking at ways to try and make that happen right now. After such a big change to the league, having a long break is probably not a good idea and we should ideally get things moving as soon as we can, that's as long as everybody is agreeable to that. I think that giving everyone two weeks to paint some numbers on their cars is plenty of time, and then of course the mod has to re-built, as soon as that is done we're racing. :-)

Tss are of course continuing as per the announcement yesterday.

I've seen you using it before Mal, may I correct that it is 'Snake Motorsports' instead of MDB Motorsports? ;-)

If you are racing, keep on racing and get some points!

Paolo Tafuro's announcement

"In 2 days a lot teams announced their retirement from the series. As you know,my team is into waiting list. With those new changes on the grid,my team will be 2nd in the reserve list, behind Grant's team. Those changes are caused from some new rules regarding team bosses.I don't agree really much to those new rules, but most of the gpgsl members agree,so I can just respect them.Unluckily,i entered the series into S3(Round 2) as testdriver, and being promote to race driver at the start of S4.So,my career in gpgsl as race driver is quite short. If my team will get a slot into gpgsl,my career as race driver will be locked(into rgfr)in favour of a return as testdriver. It won't be the same, but at least i keep my perf values "on update".Anyway,i don't think other teams will retire at the end of S4,and this is good for me,as i want to keep racing in gpgsl as far as possible:-).My opinion is still the same:a secondary season would please everybody, but it would require a secondary Governing Body,or like De Boer proposed,a bit of races during the season for test drivers and reserve teams:-)."

well mate,i think that this new rules can work as far as we have a good number of people involved into testing\racing,but then...

also, the teams who retired have had their part into gpgsl's story.without them,it would be like f1 without ferrari, mclaren, renault, lotus, brabham(those two are meant as the old teams).
it would look a champ that hasn't anymore its base.

Sorry for the word use here, but that's utter bullshit. People who are saying this is the end of GPGSL fed me up. Yes, five teams have pulled out. But lo and behold, five new teams come in! And since some teams will be sold, they'll only be rebadged. TSS, MPR and IED have been here from the start and stay here for S5. They are big names in GPGSL. That's just a few I name. Every team has its own heritage. To say that the GPGSL will be some silly boring championship without the teams that leave is an outright insult to the new teams and the teams that stay.

I totally agree.

In S1, did everyone say that the GPGSL was going to be boring because there were no 'big names'? (I know in terms of GPG.org, TSS and DFR are big names - but think of it in terms of the GPGSL).

Since I wasn't around at the time, somebody answer me that.

i didn't want to insult new teams and the other teams,i just wanted to say that the retiring teams have had their part in the gpgsl's present and past story

And the new teams will play their part to forming GPGSL's future. Nuff said.
Phoenix buck trend

So. 4 or 5 teams leaving. This is getting complicated. Well, Phoenix are going to make it more confusing!

No, I'm not selling Phoenix. We're having a name change. The team, from Season 5, will be called Blue Flame Motorsports. A radical new livery is being painted. We are also in talks with drivers on filling up our spare seats. Watch this space. We will challenge for the championship next season, I hope. Well, maybe.

Also, I'd like to confirm Mal Stoddart is indeed leaving Phoenix/Blue Flame (from S5) to start up his own team, Southern Cross Racing. Good luck Mal, can't wait to see the car! Also as far as I know, Paolo is staying, although this could change if he gets his own team (look on P131 for Paolo's statement regarding his future). Again, watch this space.

Until the unorganised chaos has declined a bit, we won't be making any more announcements regarding S5.

Continue.

Since DFR are pulling out I now am without a seat as tester...so my services are offered.

my statement is just a confirmation that i'll be a racedriver as far as my team doesn't get a slot;-)

My GPGSL Career
VanSmirren Motorsports announcement.

Its a sad, sad situation... for the VSM bashers. We will stay :D
It took me a while to think things over. I thought about selling the team BUT we will stay. I have a commitment to a couple of drivers i have already signed. HOWEVER since the new rules came in everything needs to be sorted out again. I am looking for one more racedriver. Interested drivers may PM me with theire ressumee (is that the correct word??)

Announcement wont be made untill probarly the end of the season. Good luck all on getting this sorted :D

if you want i can paint the car:-)actually i'm free, just one helmet painting for a guy.

@GPGSL GOVERNING BODY AND PHILIP:
can I have a "custom" livery for the rest of the season, plus an updated version of my helmet?it's because of San Carlo's new sponsorship:-)

My GPGSL Career
You can only update your helmet. Drivers can't have seperate liveries.
