Likely changes for Season 5 to the GPGSL

- Team owners can race or test, but only within their own team.
- Testers will have feature 20 lap races during the season. (RD's discretion)
- Increase driver boosts to the lower half of the field. Boost allocations calculated and announced before season start-up.
- Increase team boost BHP division from 4 to 6. BHP cap retained.
- Lower the top previous season perf to base perf difference at new season start to 40.
- Ditch the pole and fastest lap point bonuses. Retain point for most places gained.
- Use the new penalty system for drivers and team bosses.
- Limit driver transfers. Total transfer limit of three changes remains unchanged. Race drivers not allowed an inter-team change. If they are unhappy, they must leave the team and enter the test series. Race driver replacement limited to own team testers.

These changes look like our best options so far. Shifting team owners will create a seat shuffle. The start up grid for S5 will be a lot different to what it is now. Lower perf drivers will have an increased boost allowance over the top drivers, albeit matched on the final figures. Increase the bhp division to x 6 to slow down the BHP allocation after each race, teams will not reach the bhp cap midway through the season. Taking away pole and fastest lap points will close up the points gap. The new penalties would see drivers being shunted out of a race seat on second warning for failing to comply with the activity rule, those changes are not counted towards the teams three driver change allocation. Blocking race drivers from inter team changes could see more test driver changes, these ideas could be reviewed again before S6 starts up to see how it went, to see if the changes produced the desired effect or not.

great coverage, superb work.

my race was really bad. there was absolutely no chance to score points. so i don't mind the spin, it made no difference at all. as there's only a bit of team boost left it looks quite bad for the rest of the season. in the early stages of s4 we were able to fight in the midfield but somehow we made a step backwards. i doubt we can improve our situation in the next races so we'll have to focus on s5.

Bad race for me, buz very good for my teammate...

Congratulations, Tim!!!!(Y)
We had a good racepace in the VSM car today!

To bad Rico went off track, he had a good place in sight..

My GPGSL Career
@Paolo Unless you or Mal leaves, which is unlikely, yeah I won't be racing. Might be testing though, dunno how it will turn out yet.

we can make some team retiring,so mal will drive for his team;)

My GPGSL Career
A solid result today.
Managed to finish ahead of both of my main rivals and on the podium for added fun!
The rule changes for the next season are certainly not going to work in my favour finishing up so high in the championship.
But for now I will focus on the rest of the championship.
Was good to battle with Nick on the track, even better to beat him. =D
Onto the next race.

I must say that it looks like a nice list IMO. However I might like to see testers races with 10-15 laps and then a little more often, i know it'll come with more work but I'll get my game set up for it (Y)

Boost for the lower half of the field might be difficult to calculate and keep track of. I would suggest parting the field in groups of 4. When the ranking list is presented, split it up. every group of 4 gets a certain amount of boost(-power) for the season to come.

Do not limit driver transfers, just control it so it doesn't get ridiculous. Like swapping a tester and a racer on every race would be stupid.

Also I like the idea that there is a difference between the two tire types. this however will need to have some thought of how to actually implant it. I will think about it later on - any suggestions are welcome if this idea is also accepted by other people

Controlling = limiting.

IMO we should retain the current system of three changes and have the forced change in a case of inactivity count too, because a change is a change IMO. Let's keep it clear. And we all know how VSM work, they'll find some workaround if are rules aren't waterproof ;)

Controlling = limiting.

Limiting is a form of controlling ;-) Although 3 changes should be enough for teams - and since I'm not a team owner it doesn't really matter to me but it would create a little more freedom regarding drivers. Anyhow it can stays as it is, just wanted to give my opinion :)

We don't want to give them freedom. Dictatorship FTW! :P

We mainly created the rule because the mod needs to be revised all the time. When someone finds a way that makes teambosses make the changes to the mod themselves, they can have as many changes as they want ;)
We see how much effect that rule has ;) We are already up to v6.0 and for the test mod even v7.2! ;) ;)

In terms of that rule change i totally disagree. I mean if we get rid of team owners as race drivers then most people are going to grumble (besides phil who's won 2wdc) some us have won nothing in terms of a wdc yet. Cos we've tried hard to get where really are.

We need to rethink that rule.
