Well, i tried everything, and its a litle stupid!!

I have this problem with gp4 (see image) and only happens with gp4.
With rFactor, gtr2, F1c, PES2009, SBK 09 i have no problems and i play with them with full resolution and quality and no problems but with gp4 tha case its diferent!!
I had a weaker graphics card (nvidia with only 256mb) and it worked fine but now its, like a said, insane!

These are my specs:
Ati Radeon 4650 (1gb)
dual core 1.8
3gb ram
windows vista 32 bits

Really?? =o
Maybe not good for gp4, 'cus it works fine with the rest of the games, so theres really no solution besides buying a new cpu?

For Gp4 not good.
You really need a good vga card and cpu especially because your
Vista witch consumes more resources than xp.

About upgrading by my guess you have a C2D 4300 or 4400 witch
is ok, but if you can overclock it would avoid you to spend
money, ofcourse assuming this that you have a good cpu cooler.

Its true!! Even doing nothing vista consumes 1gb of my memory!
And i tried to overclok but i think my bios doens't let me do it!!

The 4650 isn't great, and it's not so bad. First thing i would do is to learn how to decrease the size of textures in the game.

i think that's where the main problem lies, newer cars and tracks have massive textures, and if you don't have a powerful gpu, the game will be really slow.

have a look to see what size the textures are, if the car textures are 5.12mb, then that is the highest quality, look to decrease the size to 1.32mb then see what performance you get. also try it on a default track.

Ok. Try to get a Ati radeon 4850 o 4870 you will notice a
huge difference compared to the 4650.

And before changing your card, you can also just disable anti-aliasing which is slowing down performance a lot for small cards.

And how can i decrease the quality of the textures?
Using slimtex right?

Lo2k: In the catalyst i think i just can the anti-aliasing to 2x, or is a way to disable?

Yes with Slimtex but i wont reduce 500% of PO!
Its clear with current settings you need a better video card.

What screen resolution are you trying to make work?

jorge you'l be surprised at how large textures have an effect.

for instance, with my pc i can play everything to the absolute max, but i downloaded a 2009 car that had the largest tex file i've ever seen, and that slowed everything down, it was like 13mb or something. uncompressed i believe, but using a 5.12mb file was fine.

so try reducing the size of the tex before buying a new card

i would try some other things before buying a new card, too. instead of resizing textures you could also edit your f1 graphics.cfg in the main gp4 directory. there's a line "texture quality" , set it to 2 and test again. make sure the first line in that file is set to 1 if you try that. lowering anti aliasing might also help a lot

First of all the 4650 will be fine for GP4 afaik.

The problem is GP4 only uses 1 core and your dual core only run's at 1.8GHZ, therefore you only have 1.8GHZ to handle the whole game.

Most people here run at least 2.6GHZ+ and it makes alot of difference, best thing to do is overclock your CPU with an aftermarket Fan or upgrade your CPU.

First of all i whant to thank you all for your help and opinions

now

Is your Dual Core Intel or AMD?

If it's Intel you should get a really good overclock out of it with an aftermarket fan and save yourself some £ :)

Edit:// I should mention if its a Core2Duo or Pentium Dual Core, Im afraid the Pentium D's are pretty rubbish.

Look several posts up that i did already suggesting this :)

The processor speed is important but not crucial.
Whats important is the construction of the processor, how many
transistors and how much cache it has.

My Intel E8600 is running at 48000mhz but originally it runs at
3300mhz. I bought a special cpu cooler, its worth it if you
know how to overclock. This procesor has 45nm technology and
has cache of 6mb.

I saw those textures too. They were incorrectly maid.

Forget about all specs talking, just do a graphic recalibration before to play.

Its a dual core but like i said before my bios doenst let me do a overclock

And i alredy did a graphic recalibrition like 10 times

This an interesting thread. I have been playing GP4 modded since GP4 came out. Then I had an AMD 3200+ and a nvidia 6800GTX and 1gig of DDR ram and it was running with low PO at 1600 resolution on an old CRT screen. Its all about optimization.

But I do believe the tex files have grown in size since then. GP4 is more CPU dependant than GPU. Your Radeon 4650 1 gig is more than enough for this game, its your CPU. If you really really want to game, you can update your motherboard bios, as the dual cores can over clock really well. Or get a mother board than can clock. I assume its a C2D E6400?

But isn't better buying a new cpu instead of a motherboard? and the mother model is a Asus IPIBL-LB
