You have a Ati 3870 toxic. Thats far better video card than a 4650 !!

I dare you find a benchmark between both vga cards to say any diffent
than what i say.

Of course it will make a difference, it will allow his GPU to work 100% as the CPU won't always be catching up.

Whilst he doesn't have the best GPU ever it should be good enough to run GP4 nicely, it is his CPU bottlenecking his system the most.

If he upgrades the CPU he will see a massive improvement straight away, then he could always buy a better GPU if his cannot run AA/AF on max settings etc.

I know about bottle neck, thats why i said a balance
between both cpu and vga card ! Look in my previous post !

But in this case is not going to be big improvement buying
a newer cpu. Maybe it can improve 200% the PO but not much
more than that.

I suggest vga card like ati radeon 4850 or 4870.

bye :)

I think the CPU will be making the most difference in this case, I would advice to first try out a new (or from another computer) cpu and then decide whether you need a new VGA card with it or not

Slightly off topic
I just got myself a monitor with 1920x1080 native resolution. When i put the resolution in my graphic.cfg file I get cutoffs in cockpit and t cam view. What is the best resolution for this game with this screen or should I move the cams around in team editor?

That sounds like a 24 inch LCD.
I think the Max is 1680 x 1200.

Well, after a (big) while waiting for a new cpu, i finally bought a new cpu (intel 2.8Ghz) and guess what?
Gp4 still runs in a horrible way
Even rfactor with the wcp mod (a litle heavier than the most if the mods) or burnout paradise runs sooo fine but gp4 still lags a lot!
I already tried some grafics.cfg but nothing worked, so im starting to guess is the universe who is stoping me from playing gp4

have you tried going back to a default install (ie no mods or anything) and then building it back up with mods and stuff?

I've run GP4 on full with a far worse spec than that, with the 2006 mod as well, so your machine should be fine (and i only use vista as well)

Told you mate back in June that cpu wont make big difference in your case.
I suggested a newer video card like a hd 4850 or 4870.

Kind regards

Depends on:
- your Monitor or LCD
- screen resolution
- how many fps
- how much details you like to see

HD 4850 is better video card than the 9600gt but
its not a good time to buy because very soon the 58xx series
of ATI will be out in the market, their for lower prices of the
older video cards if you wait a little longer.
