raulongo - i bow to your greatness, but what about just rendering off GP4 cars?

im just trying to folow Raul's excellent tutorial, and have found a problem at the start, already :(

I have applied my textures in zmodeler, saved them as short file names (under 8) and also renamed them in the material editor screen. the z3d, the 3ds shape file and all the tgas are kept in the same folder when i export it in .3ds format.

the shape is also uniteselected as one, and renamed 'car.3ds'.

However, when I try to import it into 3ds max, i get the error 'missing maps' and a popup telling me the three .tgas that are apparantly missing.

f9 renders the car, but of cours it remains white wihout textures.

i am using max 2009 design, and vista ultimate 64 (if that helps!)

many thanks in advance :)

Can't you select the tga's manually in that pop screen??? Otherwise check the material editor ;-).

ive just tried importing the same .3ds file into max in the 32-bit version (as opposed to 64-bit above) and the mapping error doesnt occur.

however the car remains white lol, and when material editor is loaded, theres no sign of the textures there either. this is odd!
