ah crap, been working on my track, but somehow it doesn't load anymore. I think i made too many scenes, is that possible? i've deleted them afterwards but i dont know if 3dbuilder really deletes them or messes things up after a few scene deletions. When i try to load the track GP4 just vanishes no error, it just disappears. Any suggestions?

Ok, problem is in the dat file. Strangly it doesn't hang when i click drive. Any ideas on what could cause this?
The file is here: [maverick.dynasoft.nl] for people who are bored :)

Maybe it's because of the kerbs going through walls? It looks really odd at sectors 509-511.

That is the weirdest Monaco modification I've ever seen. The braking for the turn that goes over St. Devote must be insane, lol. Miss the braking point and your car is jumping above the wall!

Dave, did you try the .dat without the cc-line? It looks a bit too tight in the last few corners, you should try deleting it and see if it works, if it does, reworking the cc-line should do the trick :)

Tried so far:
-removed ccline
- removed all kerbs from new section
- removed al bank from new section
- reworked the pitlane entry ( i suspected this would be the problem, but i seem to be wrong)

Still no luck.
I've put the updated version online, [maverick.dynasoft.nl] it's a bit cleaner, but i think i better start over from a old backup cause i dont see myself figuring this one out.

Well redid a few things, it works. But i cant discover any differences between the working and non-working version. ah well....

Check track flags. How I get Adelaide to work:

1. NO track flags.
2. Create .bin files
3. Creat .col file
4. Save .gp4 and .dat file
5. Copy .gp4, .col and .bin files to wad and compress with easywad.
6. Copy wad to tracks folder (if using CSM) or gp4 folder.
7. Copy circuit to tracks folder or Circuits folder.

I have a question:

How do I create terrain? I have had to change a LOT of gradients for Adelaide but I cant fix the terrain. Once I can I can release a BETA.

Terrain just needs to be made. One way is using the fence buidler in GP4 Builder, or you can use zmodeler/3d max, etc.

Adelaide is looking really good now - if you need any help with it send a PM :)

Terrain is a real pain in the ass to make. Fence builder in GP4 Builder is a great way for creating the terrain objects in the first place, but since in GP4 Builder there aren't any ways for moving/joining several vertices at once, you'll get sick of doing it manually very quickly and will have to learn how to use a 3d editing program like Max.

with my monaco track i now have the problem that when waiting for the starting lights the tarmac disappears. after s/f it's fine for the rest of the race. I remember having this problem before but i cant remember how to fix it. Does anybody know?

With GP4 Builder i've build standard hills with the same height all along the track with Zandvoort, is it possible if i import the hills to 3DMax that there is an edit option where you make the height changes 'cosine'?

Last question, in which cases you must choose semi-transparent, full-transparency or opaque for a texture?

DXT1 - Opaque for grass, adverts.. "Normal textures with white alpha layer"
DXT1 - Semi-transparency for guardrails, trees..
DXT5 - Full-transparency only for fence and glass textures.

maybe additional not:

DXT1 format for opaque and semi-transparent textures.
DXT5 format for full transparent textures.

Keep in mind that DXT5 is twice as big as DXT1, so always choose DXT1 if possible.

In the past I updated a track by someone else and at first the .wad was about 50 mb big. By editing the texture formats I could decrease it to 34 mb without changing anything else (!).

I'm working on a fictional track. All was going well until I put the pitlane .bin file in the track wad. Now the track CTD at the end of the loading bar. If I put the original pitlane file in the wad then the track loads perfectly. I am certain that it is the pitlane bin files the cause the crash. What can cause a bin file to cause this?

Thanks,
paul..

Make sure that the .col file is right and there are no track flags.

If there´s a problem with either of those wouldn´t the DAT file cause a crash? They both look OK to me anyway, so I don´t think it is that. I remade the pitlane again and changed it slightly, to see if that made any difference. One thing that may be of relevance is GP4Builder crashed while trying to create the pitlane.bin. I loaded up GP4Builder and tried again and it seemed to create the .bin file the second time.

The track loads fine (although there is no tarmac in the pitlane) with the default pitlane.bin, but If I put mine into the WAD then the track crashes still at the end of the loading bar.

This has got me completely stumped.

Hi there

Two bugs reported here

1. What should I do to fix this?

2. I have re-installed all GP4 stuff and I think there´s something missing here at GPXPatch... When I load sakhir (S1CT04.dat + imola2001.gp4) with gpxpatch 3.91 track loaded is default GP4 a1ring2001... What have I done wrong? Is it something with gp4.exe v 1.00 ?

Thanks for help.

Best regards from Brasil.
