My friend and I are working on the Bahrain Track from Maverick and Lo2k. We took the objects from F1 Challenge and tried it out. There are still some bugs but it looks better then so "naked"...We are working on solutions...
Here are some pics...

Looks very nice. I don't now much about mapping but perhaps it'll be a success.
Keep it up!:)

indeed its better than naked :), but do you have permission to do so? , or if you don't require permission for doing this work than i have no problem.

well you can, for your own use it's no problem at all ;-)
For release, well we could do this per mail, but i can tell you i wont give you permission to redistribute it. Not because i dont like you, but the track that you have is sooo early in development i dont really like it "out there" that much. When bahrain is finished and released i would be happy to let people tamper with it to make it better, but with this pre-alpha version(we call it beta, but as you notice ingame it's far from that) rather only for "home-use".

we will go on working on this track. at the moment it is still a beta, of course...
We will se, what the time brings, and wether the track can be good...
How long will your track need? This is only for us and for a bahrain track in the game

it will need months, as there are things wich cant be properly done with 3deditor. if it's only to use for yourself then i dont care what you do, just go ahead :)

not that much, have been solving some pitlane issues, you may have noticed it the track you have you cant speed through it, it slows you down in the middle somewhere, still dont know what causes that. i'll have 2 days off from school so wil be jumping in the jipmappings tomorrow. Expect an update of 3deditor before you here news from bahrain :)

We have not the problem with speed on track... we fixed the datas..
But we do not know, too, what caused that...

Good job GPGeneration and your friend I will shut the name ;)

Maverick took a long time to build Bahrein .dat layout and I understand he does not like someone come here, change 3 values and release a new track based on his work...nothing new here.

Anyway, as Maverick told, there are still many things to solve in general to build a real knowledge on how new tracks can be built and what traps could be avoided in future, so why, in the present state, not keeping two teams to work on Bahrein and find solutions to bring a track working ?

For example, about pitlane speed, if GPGeneration found how to get rid of the ever breaking car bug, maybe can you tell Maverick what was the matter and how you solved it (would interest me too :) and if Maverick solve a trouble GPGeneration didn't get rid before, maybe could he quickly explains what's wrong.
This way no-one directly gain a working file from the other but can gain some searchs or ideas from another he will only be able to use working on itself.

Can you get my point of view ? ;)

Good idea! The exchange of gained knowledge how to solve certain problems or bugs could accelerate the process of track-developpement a lot.

Cause the problem with the pitlane:

We have rebuild the pitlane because the front of the cars are flying over the pitlane and the rear was a little bit under the pitlane. When you have a crash in pit the computer-cars are fly unrealistically. We think the physic in pitlane was the problem. we have changed the pitlane height. the start and the end of the pits was terrible because when you go out there are a big jerk. More we do not know.

We hope that you can fix it, too, because your version will be better than our.

At this time I worked on France and hungaroring, but I have many graphical mistakes on my computer. I will open a topic in the afternoon.

well this wasn't really a bug but just work not done yet, solved pretty much more than a week ago, what you must realize is the dat you have was created and sent to lo2k on 19 april. wich is nearly a month ago. as you can imagine, a lot of work has been done since then. well it maybe is a nice way to learn it wont give you much satisfaction at the end, as you have a big time disadvantage and problably see a bahrain released before you finish the one you're working on.

I think that might be a nicer way to "practice" and leatn about trackmaking.

mckey415 is a known problem :)

Yes France and hungaroring have a new layout. But on hungaroring we have problems with the dat. The Game is not freeze, it is crash to windows. I don't know what the problem is on this track, because i have make it like France.
