@ race monkey - this is how i make mine. on photoshop with the gradient tool, right click on the drop down box which comes up on the menu bar and change the gradient type to noise. change the colours till you like it then save it. Then use ctrl + u and colourize to change the colour of the visor

do you want it in tex form or tga and what size? top of the helmet is 512x128 but the main part can be either 1024 x256 or 512x 128 up to you
