GPGSL S10: Season over! Thank you and goodbye. See you in S11 ||v||

Thanks John, I think AMR's driver line-up is looking quite strong for S11. Going to really miss you at AMR though mate. You had become part of the furniture and fittings around here ;)

GPGSL S10 R12 South African Grand Prix, Kyalami

Race Day

Welcome back to Kyalami for the South African Grand Prix. Jack Elleker sits in pole position at the end of the grid. Championship leader, Sebastian Nell sits at the back. All the drivers are revving their engines for the start, so let's get to the action.

And they are away! Kederer has got off to a flyer.

It's looking close between the two Aston Martin's and the Shadow of Kederer.

Still close coming out of the first corner between Elleker and Kederer.

But Elleker takes a commanding lead after the second turn.

Maverick takes a look at 2nd placed Kederer.

Elleker has already built a large gap to 2nd.

Elleker sets fastest lap, but that is quickly beaten by Thomas.

Greenhalgh runs wide and Copeman nips by.

The Aussie runs even wider and off onto the grass verge.

Thats last place for the MPR man and Maverick has passed Kederer for 2nd position.

Standings after the first lap and Kederer has lost yet another place.

Elleker takes fastest lap.

Ancevski takes O'Brien for 9th as Kederer retakes 3rd from De Bruyker.

Cars are pretty bunched up behind Thomas.

Rodríguez makes a mistake and is off on the grass.

As Rodríguez attempts to rejoin the track, Elleker sets fastest lap yet gain.

Sanvitale passes De Bruyker for 4th place.

There's still a traffic jam behind Thomas.

The two AMRs lead the race.

A look at Kederer in 3rd place.

De Bruyker attempts to retake 4th from Sanvitale.

126

Multiple overtaking.

Lap 5, let's look how it stands.

Worseling passes Horváth for 15th.

The battle for 4th rages on.

Legge is making a bit of a comeback after a bad start.

Jalving spins out, someone may have dropped some oil on that corner.

Warrington locks up trying to keep up with team mate Kittleson.

Mchail takes Worseling.

O'Brien drops a place to 10th.

And is immediately under pressure from Ancevski.

Sanvitale becomes another victim of spin city bend.

Michail becomes the lastest victim of the phantom oil.

As does Worseling.

Standings on lap 10.

End of Part One.

Thanks a lot, I promise to treat your car well :)

Given Chris's bad fortune in his early GPGSL career, it's great to see him getting his break.

On my part, I put my name forward nearly three and a half years ago (December 2012, looking back at my messages - looking back further (2011) there were discussions over a second tier that never got off the ground) but it wasn't an option at the time (Chris got the testing role instead and I can't complain on that). There's been ups and downs since then but I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in the series - maybe when I made the decision to retire I'd lost sight of that as I was focusing on other things. This is a great community to be a part of and I imagine had Stu not offered the seat at AMR I would have seen things going on in S11 and have been chomping at the bit to come back!

Glad to be sticking around, the end of Season 10 and the start of Season 11 are certainly going to be interesting ;)

EDIT: Seems like Kyalami needs a bit of work on the AI errors next time we use it, the phantom oil is a bit much ;)

Boost paying off as always so far.

That's why I'm lobbying so much for pre-season tests and generally to only use tracks that have been certified as 'working'. We have this issue every single season at quite a few tracks. And every time people, including me, are annoyed by how many victims this costs. And yet we never do something against it. Really might be worth a thought before the next track voting.

How did I drop from 5th to 9th in the space of a lap or 2? I know there's no boost, but that shouldn't be the reason for dropping that many positions.

And I look at the current standings... Still dead last, every car behind me went off-track at some point
Ouille! Not a very good start but I'm still in contention for the points.

Man I hope we're running long or something, that is a serious lack of pace all of a sudden.
Otherwise: just continue not spinning off.
Woah!

That was awesome! Except for the spin, I knew it I'd be fast!

The boost IS paying off

Maybe it was me that gave TNR the bad luck!

TNR did that deal several seasons ago. I'll post you the copy of GPGSL Seat Magazine!

The boys stayed out of troube, but they have to move forwards with the boosted engines.

You forgot my teammate who is fully in the championship run again and leading the race. He should be your main concern ;)

I had already reduced AI errors to 20 after remembering last season's spins-are-us festival. May have to be reduced again or the cc-line looked at.
