GPGSL Rd 2 Pacific GP – Tester’s Free PracticeHello everyone. We are in Adelaide this time around for the second round of the season. First up for the weekend is the tester’s free practice. How will the testers fare in their attempts to take the fastest time knowing that the rain could come at anytime? We are about to find out.
Weather ReportFirst driver out to get the session underway is Allington, who will be the first driver to test the conditions.
He sets the first time of the session.
Domenech gets close to Allington’s time.
Sheppard goes fastest.
Mills is the slowest driver so far.
Steer’s time is even slower than Mills’s time.
Michail breaks the trend by setting the 4th fastest time.
It doesn’t last for long though as now Stoddart has the slowest time of the session.
Keranen’s time is faster than Stoddart’s, but is only good enough for 7th.
Ana however manages to go fastest so far.
Hunsley and O’Brien set their times, but there isn’t much they can do about it, at least for now.
The second group of drivers are now able to set their first laptimes, as Ancevski is the first one out.
He sets his time, which is good enough to see him slot into 6th.
Scala shows that it is still possible to set a decent laptime despite the current weather.
Briere isn’t as lucky, but still manages to get inside the top 10.
It seems both SCR drivers are struggling to use the speed of their cars to the fullest, as De Boer can only manage to go 10th fastest.
He may have had a very tough start to his GPGSL career in the last round, but this time around Silva is able to put a decent lap together, which sees him go 6th fastest.
Sanvitale will be slightly disappointed to just miss making it into the top 10.
Vilela sets his laptime, and it’s good enough to see him go 8th fastest.
There is no repeat of the last round this time around for both MAC Racing cars.
Greidanus on the other hand sets his time while battling it out with the MACs, and it’s good enough for 3rd. He’ll be quite pleased with that lap.
Hinz puts himself inside the top 10.
All the drivers have now set their first laptimes, so let’s see the current standings.
Michail is out first this time for the first group of drivers second run.
O’Brien, Mills, Hunsley and Steer all manage to improve on their previous times.
Stoddart improves on his previous time, but it’s still not good enough to see him move up the order.
Scala gets the final runs for the second group underway.
Silva finds himself having to deal with one of the AMRs during his flying lap.
It didn’t seem to bother him too much as he goes 2nd fastest.
Cremasco gets a little bit sideways during his lap.
He improves on his previous best, but it could’ve been a bit better.
De Boer improves up into the top 5.
Ancevski goes one better.
However, Greidanus blows everyone out of the water with a brilliant lap to go fastest so far.
Vilela improves, and puts his One inside the top 10.
Briere now finds himself inside the top 3 after improving on his previous laptime.
McGregor ends his lap, and just misses out on the top 15.
A brilliant lap from Sanvitale sees the Snake driver improve up into 2nd.
An improvement from Hinz sees the AMR driver make it into the points.
All drivers have now finished both of their laps, so let’s check out the final standings.
That wraps up the free practice for Rd 2. Congratulations Ruben Greidanus and Greidanus GP, the winner of the tester’s free practice. The rain played its part in this session for sure, but will it do so again when the race drivers hit the track next for qualifying? We’ll just have to wait and see. We’ll see you all back here tomorrow.
