GPGSL Round 7 US GP - Free PracticeGood morning everybody. Here we are at Road America for a new GPGSL Grand Prix. No rain is expected so far. The FP is about to start.
And it started! The first driver on track is the Italian driver Gianluigi Silvestre.
Unsurprisingly he sets the fastest time.
Christopher Hinz places himself and his KFR in 2nd place with a 3-tenth gap.
Hayes doesn't do better.
The other TDC contender, Ricardo Van Smirren, is far from Silvestre.
While not being followed by the cameras, De Boer caught the 3rd place.
Silvestre improves his own time and keeps the lead.
His team mate and long time MPR driver Santilal is three places down.
Daniel Thomas places in 3rd.
A look at the standings as O'Brien opens the second manche of this session.
The SCR driver is 2nd! Good lap for the Aussie. Yet nobody can get close enough to Silvestre and menace his lead.
JHR teamboss Jack Hunsley is 6th
Another team boss, Glen Sheppard is 12th.
Matthew Allington is 3rd. After just one GP the Demon Racing driver seems to have fitted quite well in GPGSL.
This manche didn't give us other surprises. Let's follow Nathan Mcgregor as he launches himself on track for the third round.
He improves his own time but still in last place. Not good for the MAC Racing boss.
It seems like nobody can improve now.
AMR boss Stuart Ingers does, but doesn't go further than 17th.
Maikel De Boer reaches the 2nd place! He's half a tenth behind Silvestre. Is the battle for the fastest time still open?
Christopher Hinz improves too but still 6th.
Mal Stoddart passes from 20th to 3rd.
Onboard with Tommi Karjalainen, 14th. Let's look at the standings with 5 minutes to go.
Jack Hunsley may have some problems as his team mate exits from the pitlane right in front of him. Not a good strategy by JHR.
Schieder doesn't go over 20th place.
The situation inverted and now is Copeman the one slowed down by Hunsley.
TSM driver Dean Kittleson takes the 5th place. A quiet lap for him.
The same can't be said for Copeman. Never mess up with the boss...
The session is over! Here the final standings:
Congratulations to Gianluigi Silvestre and MPR. Two laps were enough to enstablish a lead that lasted for the whole session. Don't forget to follow us tomorrow as the race drivers will fight for the pole position.
