GPGSL Rd 12 Italian GP – Qualifying

Hello once again. We are back here in Monza, and we are getting prepared for the start of what will most likely be a fantastic qualifying session. Plenty of boosts have been used, so that could very well be the deciding factor in deciding our pole sitter. Well then, let’s head trackside as the RD gets set to get the session underway.

Weather Report

Shadow’s Greidanus gets the session underway as the first driver out.

As such, he is the first to set a time.

A good lap from Schieder sees the MAC driver slot into 2nd.

It’s good enough to hold off Rodriguez and both Demons.

Elleker goes to the top with a very fast lap.

Jalving goes 2nd fastest.

Horvath in the TNR crosses the line and slots into 3rd.

Moinet’s lap is only good enough for 10th. He won’t be happy with that lap.

MAC Racing is doing well so far as Pedersen goes 3rd fastest.

Warrington pulls out a good lap and slots into 4th.

With the first lap for the first group now completed, let’s take a look at the standings.

The second group now gets underway as Greenhalgh is first out.

His laptime is pretty decent, and puts him into 5th.

Maverick is unable to match his teammates pace, but at least his time is good enough to put him into 8th.

Mathew in the first of the Snakes finds himself in 13th.

Cartwright goes 9th fastest.

15th for McCarthy is not what he would’ve wanted.

Van Renselaar sets his laptime, and it’s good enough to put him into 2nd.

The second TNR of Karjalainen goes 15th fastest.

Kederer crosses the line and slots into 12th.

Scala in the VSM goes 16th fastest. He’ll most likely be very disappointed with his lap.

Gilson pushes his SCR to the limit, and it pays off as he is able to take provisional pole.

Hayes crosses the line, and slots into 18th.

All the drivers have now set their first laptime, so let’s take a look at the standings.

The first group of drivers now get their second lap underway as Warrington is the first one out.

Warrington is able to improve his laptime, but doesn’t improve his position.

Moinet’s second laptime is much better, and moves him up into 16th.

Nell improves in his Demon, and just misses out on making the top 10.

Where did One find this pace? Rodriguez improves and moves up into 4th.

Pedersen puts in a better laptime, and it’s enough to move him up into 2nd.

Jalving improves on his time.

Greidanus’s laptime is much better than his first run, and it moves him up into 4th.

With both laps now completed for the first group, it’s time to look at the standings.

Mathew is the first driver out for the second group.

He is able to improve his laptime, but it’s not enough to move him off the last row.

Greenhalgh’s laptime sees him improve up to 5th.

McCarthy ensures he won’t be starting from the last row by improving up to 16th.

Both Shadows will be starting from inside the top 10 as Kederer improves himself up to 9th.

Both Scala and Karjalainen improve on their laptimes, and both just miss out on making the top 10.

All drivers have now completed their laps, so let’s take one final look at the standings.

There we have it. We witnessed a very interesting qualifying session here today. With plenty of surprises up and down the field, the race could very well be anyone’s for the taking. So, congratulations Joseph Gilson and SCR, our pole sitters for the Italian GP. Be sure to be back here tomorrow when we get set for the start of the race, so we’ll see you all then.

Fifth and eighth. Far from our best, but it certainly puts us in a position to battle for some points, maybe even sneak onto the podium.

Very happy with that! Now to have a good start to the race and try to stay in front.

Maikel, my offer from earlier in the week still stands if you want a shakeup.

Seriously? 14th with a double boost? Sorry boss, but I really give up for this season. I really don't know what else to do. Unlike Jack, I just don't seem to get the hang with this car. Maybe the race pace will be a bit better and I can hopefully drive into the points.

Surprisingly good quali considering the lack of boost. And with Ruben planning to take out Gilson, Greenhalgh and Jalving I might even have a chance to finish on the podium.

Not a bad outcome without boost

LOL. Happy with 4th in quali. Hopefully a first (!) podium this season.

12, 13 is better than I thought...
Boost? Check. Power? Check. We're all ready to go and...

...oh, never mind...

I have no luck it seems! The pace was good, so an 8th position is not what I expected.. With Greenhalgh in 4th and Gilson on Pole it will be difficult to get before them, but I will push to the "Max";-)

7th is lower than I expected, considering the car's power and the boost. If I can make it past the first corner, it could be good...

Try blaming the tyres, it works for F1 drivers ;-)
